What have you been watching lately? 2024 Edition

New to us, cause we just got Apple TV a month ago, Joel Cohen’s The Tragedy of MacBeth. Very well done, I really liked it. Denzel Washington was great but Frances McDormand was outstanding, as she usually is.

I think this should be Joel Coen.

2024 Premier League Pool on Matchroom. Tables 1 and 2 keeps us busy. SVB is in the top spot. I would like to see SVB, FSR, or Joshua Filler win.
Also the WPBA Fairfield Invitational during the last two days.

Finally watched Poor Things. Fantastic. Can’t wait to watch it again with my lady posse back home

We spend a rainy blustery cold March day in a local theater watching the Met Opera simulcast of Gounod 's Romeo and Juliet. Thoroughly enjoyed it, although the first act had a few hiccups due to the weather.
If you are an opera fan outside of NYC, its a great way to see pretty spectacular productions. The are interviews with cast, conductor and crew during intermission.
Well worth the $27.00 ticket.
There was a very lackluster seafood dinner after, which I won’t bother posting about.

She was wonderful. the standing O when she drank the 1st potion went on for ever.

I can’t wait to see this. I watched Lucia di Lammermoor 4 times and La Traviata 3x (on NYC-AllArts) because i can’t get enough of her.

I am so enjoying this

It’s on BBC, and I started watching it on Daily Motion, so I’m not sure how widely available it is. There are many shows with similar names.

So much cooking. Each episode starts with a “skills challenge” for four professional but early to mid career chefs in mostly the UK. First it’s demonstrated by a judge, then each contestant is given 20 minutes, followed by kind, detailed feedback, then they cook two courses of a meal of their choice

Not much in the way of “twists”. Biggest one so far was a cooking something that would work as a “take away”.

Okay, so in this finals round they are making “dumpling- inspired dum sum” that were demonstrated by the chef from a restaurant called A1.

That’s a twist!

Here it is on Tubi

I thought it was fun, and it made me want to eat all the things

Hmmm, I watched something last year that were chefs competing for a job in a Michelin starred London restaurant (maybe part of an hotel). This looks interesting also.

New Steve Martin documentary that is on Apple TV is excellent. It’s 2 episodes that are around 90 minutes each.

I watched that one too. That one might have been called “Million Dollar Meal”.

ETA nope; It was called Five Star Kitchen

This one seems to offer a lot more (for me) to learn from hearing why chefs do what they do, at least when cooking “classic” ( maybe British) restaurant dishes.

I don’t know what I’m doing, but here’s two clips. For some reason I couldn’t capture his whole demonstration. I guess clips are limited to 10 seconds or something like that.

I feel kinda plot-committed now … :grimacing:
