Lard or lamb, here.
only if the location has fried gizzards, many don’t anymore…
I get that. There’s “it should be free of proteins” on one hand, vs. “well, what if they have a manufacturing mixup?” on the other hand. Like you say, plenty of other oils from which to select.
Exactly. Scientifically, it may be interesting to some. Any parent is not going to take a chance with their kid’s safety. It’s actually interesting, because now that the “kid” is grown, sometimes we try to encourage him to try something that we have at home (packaged) that says “shared equipment” for instance. He has the epipens, he has the benadryl, he can do it in our presence. He still demurs. He’s not interested in gambling either.
If he’s had a scare or two, I could see why. At school we have tree nut/peanut allergy tables for those kids. Even when one comes to my office, I assure anything nut is well tucked away. Wipe down the desk and door knobs. It’s a lot more boring than the shellfish allergy table. Still, we want our kids safe and as close to normalcy as we can offer.
Right, exactly, and I appreciate your clean practices.
It’s minimum effort for great kids. I love it when folks P&M about it. You want the kid to die? No big deal on your part assures that kid lives, and in peace. Our school nurse was always great about that stuff.
There are a lot of people who could care less, or think it’s someone else’s problem. Point in fact are some of the early responses to my comments above.
Once upon a time KFC offered fried livers.
Those people often prove themselves unfit for a community
heaven. in these parts in la, roscoes chicken and waffles still has fried chicken livers…every damn time.
I avoid fast food chains altogether.
I think if you’ve seen someone go through a scary episode from their allergy, it’s a wake up call. Kid shouldn’t have to damn near die for others to respect their allergies, though. Found out one of my best buds couldn’t do shellfish while we were at a buffet (back in the 80’s, no pen or anything.) Scared the living hell out of me. Could have died. That was enough for me. I’ll listen to the nurse and avoid the nightmares.
Epi pen is a great invention.
Ballsy!
Well. Some people cannot cook
The Egg McMuffin is a thing of perfection.
It really is. Right up there with the Filet-O-Fish.
Just don’t make me pick a favorite.
Hmmmm…filet of fish seems more versatile. Any time I’m having a bad day. McMuffin is only for when I feel “put upon” first thing in the morning.
I am a bit more pedestrian. My favorite order at McD’s is a McDouble and a small coffee, one cream one sweet and low. On a hot day the drink is the “small” diet coke.
The McDouble if fresh is a simple little burger and rather tasty, though admittedly not great. At my ‘favorite’ McDonalds McDoubles are served relatively fresh, which is critical. If I get a tired, dry McDouble that location goes on my ‘inactive’ list of McD’s and I don’t return.
I eat at McD’s at least 8 or 10 times a year. It is a convenient place for a quick bite on a busy day.
I usually make my own breakfast but the few times I do not, I have tried the burrito w the picante sauce and it was reasonable.
“Love” is a strong word. There’s fast food chains I tolerate and there’s ones I find pretty enjoyable. The top three would be:
- Chick-fil-A (the nuggets and that damn sauce!)
- In’ N’ Out (an animal style protein wrapped burger is my favorite keto quick meal on the road)
- Whataburger (where else can I get chicken strips with gravy, spicy ketchup, onion rings, and cinnamon rolls at one place?)
I wish Jack in the Box was as good as in my youth. They were my favorite! About five years ago, I realized they’ve turned into pure garbage, which is a shame because their variety of munchie food is great in theory.
I’ve never seen one that looks like that! We used to make our own in college.
