We used to have a nearby Popeye’s, but it was replaced by a Poke Bowl. I really miss spicy chicken and biscuits. A lot.
Their dirty rice was the bestest.
Today might be my day.
I was just looking at the order ahead site, and they only have the spicy one listed, so maybe that was the issue for you too.
Sadly, the one I had yesterday was soggy and thinner. Maybe it was the location? I could only get through a third of it.
Everyone’s getting a better sandwich than I just had! ![]()
You need another sandwich then
H tried to get me to go to Popeye’s after the chocolate chip cookie contest! Ai. No.
Mine wasn’t as crispy as I would have liked, but I got a second one, (spicy this time) just to be sure!![]()
For research’s sake … yeah, I do that often. It’s my duty to! ![]()
Too much bread and it’s more pressed and formed than true filet like the Popeyes. I think one is still more protein than two FoF.
Yup, you got the actual original; I can tell from the color difference.
Worth another try. Maybe eat in so you can easily return it if it’s subpar.
Here’s my “spicy” flounder sandwich from Popeye’s, which really wasn’t spicy.
I asked the cashier if it was fresh and crisp, and he said he had just made one for someone before me so yes.
And so it was.
I almost asked to skip the sauce and take some on the side, and if I have another one, that’s what I’ll do, because he was a bit overly generous with it
. (Though I’m more likely to get surf & turf if I go back anytime soon, bec I’m curious about the ghost pepper coating.)
(This is a vastly better sandwich than FoF, in the way that a chicken sandwich is vs a chickwich — and I like chick witches.)
Because when I was drunk and going home from the bar in my misspent youth, two JITB tacos and onion rings were the perfect end to the night before passing out. But I live in the Sonoran desert, and DAMN we have some fabulous taco places. Besides, I wasn’t interested in food in my 20s. I’m not dissing anybody about their taco preferences, but like I said, I’m really surprised that those tacos are the AZ favorite. But then there’s the Phoenix area…
Two tacos, onion rings and coke was my misspent youth order.
When I was about 20, my roommate worked at a KFC. They got to bring leftovers home at the end of the night if there were any, and I had some of those. I’m not a fried chicken type either, but once in a while it’s just what I needed. BTW, there usually weren’t leftovers, probably to our long term benefit. And the leftovers were good
I got another Popeyes fish sandwich today. It was much better than the one I had above, with crisper fish. But it was still very salty, and I ate half of it.
