What Did You Drink Today (non-wine) #1? (2015-2020)

A Revolver: bourbon, coffee liqueur, orange bitters, and a twist of orange peel. Very strong, considering there’s 2 oz. of bourbon/drink. The coffee liqueur was semi-homemade; one of our local coffee roasters sells coffee syrup, and there’s a recipe on the label for turning it into liqueur (essentially it’s just add vodka and wait a few days).

BTW, coffee syrup (sans alcohol) + milk = coffee milk, the state drink of Rhode Island. Dave’s Coffee makes a great coffee syrup–sugar only, no corn syrup, and no preservatives.

These made it out to the pool house as I began recovering from my kidney stone surgery. In moderation of course. Shut up liver you’re fine!

What didn’t I drink today ? That is the question

Now I need to make my wife a drink to get her to calm down about the pandemic. She’s been cleaning the kitchen and just came out to the pool house with a pizza wooden steel asking me when are we going to make pizza again

My memory of the last time I attempted as a neophyte was to ridicule me. It was my first attempt
So no there will be no pizza tonight unless she wants take out

If I ever attempt it again it will be as a solo diner. I don’t take bad reviews well.

Green chili sea salt - my sister’s friend owns an organic spice business in CO so I get the occasional package- this is perfect for margaritas

I suspected it was some type of chile and salt, but I wouldn’t have guessed green chile . But I do have an entire bag of dried Hatch chiles, and they are in fact reddish brown looking.

Looks like a good cocktail, and love the big square of ice.

Asked DH to make me an old fashioned variation. This was a Burke’s old fashioned. Orange and lemon muddled with a sugar cube, dash of angostura and absinthe. No fancy ice left (and I can’t spare the freezer space right now) but this was really good.

A whisky sour up - 2 oz bourbon (I used Elijah Craig Small Batch), 0.75 oz simple syrup, 0.75 oz lemon juice, one egg white (optional). Dry shake all ingredients in shaker (if using egg white) for about 20 seconds. Add ice and shake 20 seconds or so. Strain into coupe or other glass.

While I was shopping at my local Kroger yesterday, I intended to buy a fifth of Elijah Craig Small Batch. The store doesn’t stock it.

Good lookin’ drink, @Mr_Happy

Tonight a small pour of a 30 yr old single barreled grande champagne cognac from a group buy. Just delicious. Hints of tropical fruit and coconut. My wife is really digging it as well.

One of my favorite war stories my Dad told involved his first experience drinking Calvados during the liberation of France. Every time he told the story it got funnier and more complex. The gist of his experience was that he thought he was going blind after just a few sips.

His tale warned me off from ever trying it. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:
