Is it possible that there’s been no mention here of Mobland? I just searched this topic and nothing came up, but I could swear I’ve seen it discussed. We’re 3 episodes in and, other than it being very violent, it seems to be really good.
I’d watch it if it was on one of my existing streaming services. Might have to wait till my library gets a copy.
Well, we decided to continue watching Peaky Blinders after all.
Adrien Brody makes an appearance in the fourth season, and it has got to be his worst performance we’ve ever seen: a comically bad Marlon Brando as the Godfather / Robert De Niro as any mafioso ever imitation. Every time he starts talking, we crack up laughing. I don’t know what he was thinking, and I don’t know why the director didn’t say anything ![]()
We also watched the very well done The Beldham last night,
with a truly surprising twist. It’s short, well acted, and I recommend it.
That is such an excellent film. One of the best I saw in 2025.
Welp, I’ve binged all three seasons of “The Diplomat” and it’ll be quite a while til the next one arrives. I’m bereft.
I have so much nostalgia for Reno 911 that I’m all good with Wendy. Will have to Google who Josh is but guessing he’s the obnoxious surgeon?
Watched episode and 3 and half of episode 4 last night of the Night Manager. Lots of holes in the plot but entertaining. I guess they’ve already green lit series 3 so hopefully will happen sooner than the 6 years between series 1 and 2.
Yeah, Josh is the insecure obnoxious surgeon. Love Mekki Leeper, who was unknown to me before Jury Duty, and David Alan Grier.
I finished watching the excellent first season of Blue Lights, which Amazon was showing for free. I see why everyone was raving about it.
Unfortunately, I am subscribed to too many streaming services, and not sure if I want to add Britbox to catch the other 2 seasons. I might just subscribe for one month.
That should be enough time to binge the two seasons!
I watched The Rip last night on Netflix, it was pretty good. Action, suspense and lots of “who done it”.
I’m a fan of Matt Damon because of the Jason Bourne franchise, Ben Affleck, not so much but he was decent in the role he played and the rest of the cast did a fine job. 7.5/10 and supposedly based on true events.
Good to know! It’s on our list of things to watch, and was a contender the night we ended up watching the weird horror flick about old lady bird witches.
Started watching Best Medicine on Hulu. It’s an American remake of the British show Doc Martin. Josh Charles and Abigail Spencer are the leads. It’s pretty good but I’m afraid I can’t stop comparing it to the original which, IMHO, was far better. Maybe need to give it more time.
Last night I watched two recorded PBS programs, Bookish, and Miss Scarlet. The differences were really striking. I enjoyed Bookish. It’s quirky and smart, with interesting eccentric characters. Not great, but entertaining. Miss Scarlet, which I used to be a fan of, has changed into a cutesy semi-sitcom, where the women are long-suffering and treated like children, and the men are in charge even if they’re jerks (Mr. Potts). I really miss the Duke. The show really has gone downhill since he left.
Agree. The story had enough interesting twists to keep us watching. Entertaining movie night choice for us.
I just finished watching season 1 of Karen Pirie, which was available for free on Amazon Prime. I was ready to bail on it after the first few minutes, but I’m glad I didn’t. It got much better as it went along. The finale was really good.
I saw the first episode of Steal, on Amazon Prime, and really enjoyed it. I am looking forward to watching the rest of the series. There are 6 episodes, and they are all available.
We enjoyed The Rip.
Well…against all odds we made it to S6 of Peaky Blinders. Adding more involved plot lines, the spectacle that is Tom Hardy as Alfie Solomons, and the spectre of looming fascism kept us engaged.
Who knows what will be up next on our bingenda ![]()
Last night we watched the first part of Judd Apatow’s Mel Brooks documentary on HBO, The 99 Year Old Man.
I love Mel Brooks, thought this was fun & engaging and I look forward to the second part. I had no idea that Buddy Rich was his neighbor and gave him drum lessons, nor that he was instrumental in kickstarting David Lynch’s directing career!
I also suggested a retrospective of some of his movies to my PIC to pass the cold winter nights coming up.
I’ve had some forced downtime recently, so I’ve been in binge mode: first Pluribus, then Task, and now I’m trying Ponies.
Task is clearly the dark and intense one of the trio, but I’m always happy to see Martha Plimpton show up on my screen.
