What are you watching? (2026)

I thought it was a lot of fun, if not exactly groundbreaking, plot-wise. And it produced the most powerful earworm the world has ever known..

Since I will be couch-bound for the next few days, I finished watching the Golden Globes. Some interesting fashion choices there, and some nice surprises (I’d avoided most spoilers).

However, not nearly as interesting as the fashion choices on E1 S7 of Love Island: USA.* The predominant factor for being selected as a contestant being questionable fashion choices, boob jobs, and six packs.

We will see how patient this patient will be with the brain rot I am willfully ingesting for the time being. At least the voiceover is funny and has a cheeky Scottish accent.

But if I hear one more shrill “OMG!!!” I may be done with it

*I had not subjected myself to any of the previous seasons & only found out about the show in an old NYer issue :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Wanda Sykes ftw

Yes! Much as I liked Gervais’ GG hosting stint he can F right off, along with Dave Chapelle.

And Norm McDonald. I made the mistake of watching his last comedy special (filmed at his home during his last illness), and hoo, boy, what the hell are you so afraid of, dude?

Glad I missed it. Why “comedians” would ever feel the need to kick ‘down’ is beyond me.

Shoulda seen it coming with RG, tho, who didn’t waste a second to make fat jokes when he (briefly) lost all that weight. One would think Bowie would’ve wanted nothing to do with him if he were still around.

Last night I watched the very entertaining Baby Driver with a great cast (Ansel Elgort, Jon Hamm, Kevin Spacey, Jamey Foxx). It’s on Paramount Plus.

Wait… Spacey is getting work again? :open_mouth:

How did the operation go? I hope you have a quick recovery and can finally get some relief.

Thank you so much for asking! I have a nerve block, so I should be pain-free for quite a while. However, that also means that my right arm is practically useless, and I am typing with one hand. Since I am not a very patient person, I am actually using voice to text :upside_down_face:

Probably because the director is one of the Safdie brothers, who were responsible for Uncut Gems. (NVM if you were simply alluding to that.)

I finally got to Dept. Q on Netflix, and quite enjoyed it. Matthew Goode was unexpectedly great at playing a somewhat misanthropic grump, and there was just enough levity. Apparently, there will be another season.

That was a fun show!

More of The Diplomat, season 1. This is more TV than I’ve watched in like ten years.

It’s very bingeable.

It’s an old movie from 2017 before he got cancelled :slightly_smiling_face:

Glad you are pain free for the time being. Hopefully you can start some therapy in the next few days, and get on the road to recovery. Sending good vibes your way.
