I just watched The Luckiest Man in America, with Paul Walter Hauser and Walter Goggins, on Hulu. It was very entertaining.
we are watching The Last Frontier
You might like this BBC show then:
Just 7 episodes of less than an hour each, adapted from the book by Adam Kay, who is an ex-doctor. It is based on his experiences as a doctor in training. We trained in London around the same time, so the stuff that is depicted rings so true I couldn’t finish watching the series, even though Ben Whishaw and Ambika Mod are fantastic in it. I can confidently say the way I was treated a lot of the time by my seniors made me vow to myself that I would never be so unsupportive of my juniors when I became a consultant (attending physician).
It’s been on my PIC’s radar for a while. For now, we’re binging Peaky Blinders. Just finished S1 last night ![]()
And, of course, S2 of The Pitt starts up here again tonight.
Gave “The Diplomat” a try. Not much of a TV watcher, but I can’t go to the gym for a couple days, so I needed something to do with my evenings. This is definitely what the doctor ordered. Delicious.
I watched Marty Supreme at the cinema. I didn’t like it very much. Very loud and chaotic. Everyone seemed to be shouting the whole time. Abel Ferrara in a weird-ass cameo. Maybe one that is better watched on a smaller screen at home where the volume can be adjusted. It also didn’t help that a woman with quite significant mental health issues was sitting near me, so I was on edge the entire time.
Just saw Marty Supreme at the cinema too. Wild ride that was a welcome distraction for us. My husband and I were in a quiet theater with barely anyone else in it, which probably made all the difference in the experience.
I won’t share spoilers for those who haven’t seen the film, but in the frenetic story, most everyone seemed to be scamming everyone else. While I don’t think viewers are really meant to like Marty, the movie helped me understand what drove his extreme hustle. Much NYC-ness to the production, including cameo roles by Sandra Bernhard and Isaac Mizrahi (fun if you know of their work). My husband and I were also amused by the use of 80s music in the soundtrack to set a tone for a movie set in the late 1950s.
You could not pay me to watch that one. I’m getting Uncut Gems vibes from it for some reason, which we had to turn off 10 minutes in.
Sorry about the stressful movie experience, too ![]()
I caught up with the old 2007 movie American Gangster, starring Denzel Washington, Russel Crowe, and an all star cast, on Amazon Prime. It was very entertaining.
We watched the first 3 episodes of *Comon Side Effects * & liked it very much. I’m usually not big on animated stuff, but this is so beautifully done, funny, smart & moving. Mike Judge is a producer and one of the voice actors.
Highly recommended.
that was a good one
The production needed drastic editing. The extra hour didn’t promote the story-telling nor add any unseen cinematic art.
I just finished watching the first season of The Copenhagen Test on Peacock. It was pretty good, if a little confusing at times. There were a ton of twists. Nobody appears as they seem. It got better towards the last few episodes.
Alright, we’ve seen four episodes of The Pitt, so I guess we’ll stick it out ‘til the end. Or ‘til our other shows come back, one or the other.
We finally watched Together with one of the Franco brothers (doesn’t matter which as they look and sound almost identical) and another actor I’d never seen.
As far as body horror goes this is pretty soft core, but the implications / commentary about relationships made it watchable.
No doubt you’ll be fine if you skip this one.
We just watched the entertaining, and action packed, The Hitman’s Bodyguard, with Samuel L. Jackson and Ryan Reynolds, on HBO MAX.
Has anybody watched Cross, now available on Prime? Looks interesting but the reviews are so-so. Other than Ryan Eggold, I’m not familiar with anyone in it.
I just watched the first three episodes, of the new season of, The Night Manager, on Amazon Prime. It’s very good so far. It’s been a long 10 years since the first season.
Ummmm. K Pop Demon Hunters.
I was completely couchbound after an exhausting 24 hour shift and needed something to watch without taxing my brain. This seemed to fit the bill and is a huge favourite of my 7 and 10 year old nieces, so a chance to get to understand what they are in to.
I found it surprisingly entertaining. Apparently it’s the most streamed animated film on Netflix and the songs are in the Billboard top 100, with one reaching #2.
