1999! That’s how old this album is… Listening to it again, its influence on modern day hits is undeniable. These guys were way ahead of their time.
We could go on for a long time:
VU and the Exploding Plastic Inevitable was prurient in a slightly disguised way. Anybody got a copy with the yellow skin still on the pink banana?
Mines gone !
The Ohio players honey album is a standout too !
This Boston band might take the cake (or pie) pre and post censor. NSFW if you squint.
1971 - Rolling Stones - Sticky Fingers ~ Wild Horses
This album cover was a really big deal when I was a teenager.

And Dead Flowers was a favorite.

I do wish I could unsee that Milli Jackson cover.
Janis comes about as close as anyone I’ve heard in rock to channeling Bessie Smith.
Lol I really had to squint. Fun though, with the barb wire and the cops looking in. But, if such a controversy was possible in 1972, how did people react when this album came out in 1974?!
It was lauded.
Art and music together in a symphony.
Conservative fake outrage is a relatively recent trend.
The airbrushed covers came later.
Nail on head.
Love the lady’s tears too.
Same artist Nick Caruso also did a bunch of blues records.

Btw John Lennon showed real balls with Two Virgins. I don’t think posting that will move the needle so to speak with his detractors tho my opinion is that ship set sail in 1966.
Doesn’t get more classic/better than this!
The local yokels and more…
John Dunnigan and his progeny’s Little Smokies,
Jack Gladstone,
Phillip Aaberg
Andre Floyd
John Floridis
Jeff Ament (you mentioned)
Rob Quist and friends and family (Guthrie and Halladay Quist)

The A.X.E. Project from Europe landed here.
A few nice venues have opened up recently (i.e. Kettlehouse Ampitheater) that have been drawing big names and the Stones played at the U of M and Elton played at MSU a few years back. Nothing like the old days in the BA with Winterland, Fillmore West, The Days on the Green and BGP’s shows where I saw the biggies. I missed seeing the Beatles. Now, I like the smaller shows with local players. Plus, I can hear them!
We did catch Ramblin’ Jack Elliot here a few years back in a small, 25 or so seat theater. So great.
Thanks for sharing that. So cool.
