me too - best job I ever had
Lou is still around, eh? What a life. Got to say “hello” to Miles Davis at Chicago Blues fest back in 89. I was a tad intimidated to chat. Miles was a true genius.
Max Roach in class. Holy pss! There’s a fella that could tell you some stories.
Mozart’s 19th piano concerto. Alicia de Larrocha and the Vienna Symphony.
Maria Calles, the greatest “Carmen” ever.
Jeff Espinoza, a great roots rock artist from LA who lives in Madrid and mainly performs in Spain. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ePaMD8OCWrI
Speaking of…here’s a cool pic i found today on a friend’s webpage
Archie Shepp with Don Cherry, Ted Curson, & John Tchicai, NYC, 1964 !
(Ole Brask/University Library of Southern Denmark)
Speaking of Trane and Miles, idk, but i think i like their wives better…Alice’s work is just incredible morning stuff too - she is criminally underrated; save betty for late night!
I just hear an interview with Betty several months ago. That was one gutsy woman.
A little more on the smooth side of jazz, I love Michael Brecker and Paul Desmond, too. But to be on the outer limits of jazz, Miles Davis with John Coltrane were there. Just wow.
One of my more precious albums: BB King and the Crusaders Royal Jam has the best recording of The Thrill is Gone. It’s the sax that makes it.
that’s a great one-welcome to the 1980s!
reminds me of Junior Walker from some time beforehand, im a big fan of his too
I might dig the delta boys, but I love electric blues. My next dog, I’m naming Muddy.
Solid. I gotta say my loyalty in the land of Chicago giants lays with the Wolf. Junior Wells is my all time favorite tho.
My pal sent me this one yesterday. Sam could really sing too. Wow.
My first dog was named Count.
Here’s a snapshot for you

The adoration of Astral Weeks makes for some strange bedfellows.
This album certainly changed my life, long ago.

Too bad van Morrison turned into a total wanker and weirdo - demerits.
Oh, totally agree.
But Michael Cohen took a turn for the better, at least.
But michael Cohens music didn’t lol who knows!?
Van is on Eric Clapton and cat Stevens island. Ted nugent and kid rock have their place. MJ has his. Then there’s Roger waters.
Thanks for the reminder about Morphine! Another band I saw back in the day - I must be getting old I’ve forgotten more bands than I can remember.
