Youâre not suggesting Ray Parker, Jr. is Rockwell, are you?
While the new belt for the turntable is on the way, I am listening to KMFA. Right now they are playing Rachmaninoffâs third piano concerto, a fine choice on this dark morning as tropical rains approach.
Bahahahaha. Blame my âearlyâ morning posting. Ray Parker Jr. is Ghostbusters, of course. Huge hits at the same time IIRC.
All is forgiven. RPJr is anything but a one hit wonder! Rockwell, OTOH, was. Per his backstory, he chose the nom de microphone so he could earn his recording contract without his fatherâs influence (Berry Gordy, Jr.). I guess it didnât hurt that he had Michael Jackson singing background vocals, but AFAIR, he never had another hit.
The last time I went to pick up a pair of glasses, the woman put them on me and then handed me several plastic-encased things to test the reading correction. One was a piece of music. I looked at it (what? Is this a test for sight-reading?) and said, âThis is Rachmaninoff.â âYou told me that already,â she replied. Actually, no, I hadnât. She just handed it to me. Which could only mean⌠someone else she was working on had just identified it. Rarefied talent pool, that clientele.
We are awaiting not downpours, but Hades -worthy temps here in the next 5 days. Only thing Iâll be listening to is the hum of the (hopefully functioning) AC.
The temperatures you are facing are similar to our mid-spring temperatures, but we are air conditioned in the extreme. My brother lives in Somerville, and his house is much better prepared for winter than for summer. You would think that the way to make a house easy to cool and easy to heat would be the same, but in my experience it rarely works out that way.
My windows face North and East. Blinds are drawn on the east ones as much as they can be for the next few days. Iâm glad I donât face west - Iâve lived in places that did, and cooling those rooms was next to impossible. (One was an actual solarium! )OTOH my North windows get really cold in the winter. Canât do anything about it - condo building windows.
Iâd rather be cold. Easier for me to warm a room than cool it. Glad my kitchen stays cool.

Joan Richardeâs âNight Flightâ on MTPR. Just about my favorite night âfreeformâ program, ever. I enjoy it when she spins Pink Floyd and Alan Parsons Project tunes 10pm to Midnight on Thursdays.
This. Is. Awesome.
