I turned the NYT ww banana-yogurt muffins into a Bundt and subbed applesauce for the mashed banana, added nutmeg and toasted pecans, and reduced the sugar to 1/4 c. Turned out well! Next I’ll try pear.
A few months ago, I made Neighbor #2 a cake for her birthday. She isn’t much of a “sweets” person, but I wanted to acknowledge her birthday.
Recently, she told me she enjoyed that cake and asked about another one. I told her that particular cake (Martha Stewart) recipe is quite easy and quick. So, I baked (another) Martha Stewart Busy Day Chocolate Dump Cake. Everyone seems to love this cake, so I’ll keep making it.
Have you seen the Seinfeld episode of George Costansa’s parents driving home after having dinner at someone’s house? They’re both complaining that they were not served any cake after dinner, how outrageous! Those 2 actors were truly funny.
Thank you!!!
I made the Alexandra’s Kitchen Ricotta-Orange cake again, this time following advice offered here.
I put pan in at 350° then lowered to 325°, after 35 minutes I placed on top the foil shield I made.
In all, it baked for 90 minutes to get to 200°.
No overly brown edges this time.
I wasn’t a fanatic this time, I didn’t make my own ricotta! Before, I didn’t care for WF 365 low fat ricotta but this time they had 365 whole milk, $5 for 15 oz so the cup and ½ required for the recipe used almost the whole container. I find this ricotta pretty delicious.
Looks superb!
Well the Costansa(s) would not have been disappointed at my house. I would have had some type of dessert (and with vanilla ice cream if requested).
I enjoy baking – I had fun preparing that cake and frosting!!
I was just reading some of the reviews of the recipe and one person complained she didn’t get dark edges like in the site’s photo! I guess it’s good either way and very easy.
If you don’t have Grand Marnier you can sub orange juice or make a lemon or grapefruit version.
I agree with them. Who doesn’t put out cake after dinner? ![]()
When I have company, I don’t always serve dessert. I don’t think my peeps miss it but, who knows, maybe they complain about it on the ride home!
You should try to find it on YouTube!
Looks great.
Now my daughter informs me the first one was too dense, leaden. I thought it was great, texture like pound cake.
It’s that time of year when I try to use up Christmas ingredients .. which often necessitates buying other things, thus creating an endless cycle. This time it’s butterscotch chips. I made an Elinor Klivans
recipes that uses butterscotch, toffee and chocolate chips. It’s a slice and bake that you can freeze, so the other log is in the freezer..
well, at least a big box of chocolates. and maybe some custard tarts
