Just another loaf of bread for lunches. I’ll slice it once it cools.

I wouldn’t say “just another loaf of bread…” looks pretty darn good to me!

Thank you… I stopped buying bread from the grocery store.

It seems most of the bread (around here) is about $5.00/loaf – I can make it for about 50 cents.

I just paid $8 for a loaf of sliced white bread from WF.

Wowza. Should there be a “T” between the “W” and “F”?

I just figured my cost per GF homemade for the daughters is about $2.5 for a (considerably heavier) loaf vs Canyon at ~ $10.

On a mass par basis (possible unfair as I don’t know Canyon’s hydration ratio, but they seem similar) it’d be $1.90 v $10.

WOW!! $8

I guess it has gone up since the last time I purchased any bread.

Everything is more expensive in this SF Bay Area.

Yes… I forgot about that.

@Aubergine

I would like to compare the Heather Christo recipe to the two I made. You wouldn’t have a note of any metric measurements for this one, would you (chocolate, sugar, flour, cocoa)?

No, I have always just made the recipe as it’s written and it always turns out well.

These are crisp/hard type, the way I prefer.

Thanks! I found one reference of hers to 120 grams flour per cup. I think I can figure out the rest.

If she uses 120g per cup for flour, you could probably consult the KAB master weight chart for the rest, since that’s their flour weight.

Great idea - thanks!

So, the nail lady bought the bag of 8 pecan crescents for $10. I had 2 bags of the snickerdoodles but no go there yesterday. When I was leaving my parking space in front of a laundromat, an older lady asked if I’d wait while she moved to my space. Sure! On a hunch I asked her if she’d like to buy a bag of snickerdoodles; she said oh I love those and I hate to make cookies, bought a bag.

Maybe I should try selling on Nextdoor.

(I don’t feel rich yet …)

My annual Chocolate Whiskey Bundt cake (next to a bottle of cheap but fun TJs wine for some reason).

Where I live in the UK, people sell homemade baked goods for pretty keen prices and get regular customers. Say, a box of 6 themed decorated cupcakes for £10. They need a sort of hygiene certificate for insurance purposes I think

Maybe even more than keen pricing, going by this thread:

20 standard cupcakes for £55 !
