Anyone have a fairly simple / foolproof shortbread recipe?

I’m thinking about this Alice Medrich one for ease and generally very positive reviews:

Request 2: Your favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe?

My nephew has requested some help in this department as he says his turn out too cakey.

I really like the Ovenly recipe, but looking for some other ideas for him too.

Chewy in the middle, crisp on the outside, not cakey at all is the desired outcome!

It’s so easy that you can really do it any time without much thought.

I’ve made this shortbread many times and it’s excellent - https://alexandracooks.com/2021/12/18/simple-classic-shortbread-a-ted-lasso-biscuit-box-for-gifting/

This is my GOAT - I don’t use the feves (too $$) but use either chopped chocolate or chips

I have one for “Gribee” (Lebanese Pistachio Shortbread) from Nancy Baggett’s “International Cookie Cookbook”. I had mentioned it before on HO; you had put on your sleuthing cap and found a link to it. I imagine you still have that cap

What I really like about it (besides the taste) is that it’s made entirely in a food processor. However, I don’t like the roll, chill, use cookie cutter, re-roll process, so I form the dough into logs, chill to firm, then cut with a knife; less work.

I think I was a bit overwhelmed by everything else, and also because I had been told everyone else was a pie person (not the case).

@sallyt & @ieatalotoficecream – Do you make 5" cookies?

If not, what’s your preferred size and baking time?

Here’s my votes:

One of Sunshine’s girlfriends is hosting a Post-Christmas “girl’s dinner” (Saturday). Sunshine loves these little “get together dinners” with her friends.

Any who, I made up a quick “Martha Stewart” chocolate cake. I didn’t really have time for anything else and the women all love chocolate, so it should work.

White Chocolate Cherry Blondies

I’m having a white chocolate and dried cherry moment.

Wish I had seen @sallyt ‘s post sooner!

It really is a busy month! I’ve been baking a mix of cookies and mini cakes — trying out some new holiday recipes. Right now, my oven is full of gingerbread cookies that I plan to decorate later.

What about you? Any favorite treats you’re making this season?

You can find nearly 700 posts about that in this thread

I don’t have notes, but I typically make cookies anywhere from 30-45g and bake from 11-13 min @ 350

@shrinkrap -they look awesome! What did you think?

We’ve only eaten one…or two, but they are just what I wanted.

Husband likes the edges best, but he usually only eats chocolate chip cookies, so this is high praise!

I added some pistachios, and used a 7”x 11” pan instead of the 8x8 (or 9x9) recommended in the recipe, and I wonder how that effects things, but it’s perfect for this phase I’m going through.
