Hello friends it’s finally the end of a stressful week. I’ve been trying to get my affairs in order so I can retire this year. I’m buying back some years of service from my present employer, but I also tried transferring some years of service from a school board job from back in the day when I worked as a school librarian. After playing telephone tag and email tag with the school board’s pension centre for the last three weeks I finally spoke to a human yesterday and found out I would have had to have transferred my pension within a year after leaving that job. I left the school board 26 years ago so I’m obviously too late
I won’t meet the 35 years of service to get a full pension but my employer is offering an early retirement incentive right now to those whose positions were cut (as is my case) so I will call the pension centre next week and see if we can make a deal. Onto my menus for this week:
Today: No lunch out today since I’m going to a vernissage tonight and there may be snacks involved. I had a salami zucchini sandwich for lunch with olives on the side. Snacks will be had for dinner.
Saturday: My plans keep changing for the weekend so I’m pretty sure I will be going to an art gallery visit this afternoon then grocery shopping. I only have a few things to pick up so I will be going to one solitary grocery store after the gallery to get what I need then call it a day. I have enough bok choy and coconut milk for one more dinner so I will have a repeat of last Sunday’s coconut-poached fish with bok choy.
Sunday: Off to Chinatown to pick up an ever growing list of items I am running out of including ginger and rice vinegar which are a staple in my house. I am hoping to score some bbq’d ribs at the take away counter and I will make a chow mein to have on the side.
Monday: Dal.
Tuesday: Chicken noodle salad.
Wednesday: Ham and rice skillet from my Harrowsmith cookbook. It’s basically fried rice with ham, mushrooms and raisins.
Thursday: @mbcraw4d and her sister will be in town so they will be meeting up with myself and another foodie friend while they are here.
Have a nice week everyone!
