Hello everyone - it is sunny and starting to warm up now where I live! The snow is slowly but surely melting (YAAAAAY!) even though we had a minor setback yesterday. It snowed a bit last night but warmed up again this morning and has almost all melted. As long as the snow doesn’t stay noone gets hurt  I am longing for warm summer days so I can go for long walks and admire nature and get my mind off of world politics. Hopefully it won’t be long until spring is here. I am now gearing up for a week off work. It is March break for the Ontario students but birthday week for me! I have no plans yet but it won’t take long for my calendar to fill up. The only activity penciled in is a trip to the west end on Friday. I plan on hitting up some grocery stores we don’t have in my downtown neighbourhood including an Indian grocer, a discount grocery store and Costco. Onto my menu plans for this week:

Today; Take out lunch was a meatball sandwich. I will have a salad for dinner.

Saturday: I will spend the day at home doing small chores and getting myself sorted for my week off. Dinner will be a risotto with shrimp and celery.

Sunday; My birthday. The only thing I have planned is to watch the omnibus episodes of Coronation Street uninterrupted. I will spend the rest of the day deciding on which cake I want tonight: tiramisu or chocolate marble cake. If I had two stomachs I would eat both but for now I don’t, so I will have to be realistic and pick one :grinning: I have no other plans for the day but that will probably change. Probably a museum visit. Dinner will be take out.

Monday: Pork and green bean stirfry.

Tuesday: Ginger bok choy soup with noodles.

Wednesday; The last serving of aloo gobi from the freezer. There is a jazz show that I have pencilled in for tonight so I plan on going, weather permitting.

Thursday; I have a film society screening tonight so I will have a bite to eat on the way to the movie theatre.

Thank you! My real birthday present is a time change (we spring forward on Sunday) but it would be sweet if it doesn’t snow even for one day.

@moderator-team @LulusMom1 wished me well for my birthday and nade an additional statement which I responded to then it was flagged by the community. My comment was probably considered political, which it wasn’t, but because I am not interested in engaging in an argument, I removed what I said. Now @LulusMom1 's comment is flagged. I’ve seen worse being said on HO so could we all take a deep breath before using the flag button?

Political drift makes this a less-welcoming place for all. Thanks for removing the additional statement. 1:1 messaging might be best for sharing political views.

Hi, all! Cooking for 2-4 in Sacramento, at DD’s place. DH and I are watching their cats while they’re out of town for a wedding this weekend. My plan is to make some large-batch things for the freezer. These are very loose plans that may change according to whim and grocery store trips.
Saturday, March 8: Pork and red pepper stir-fry
Sunday: Chicken and mushroom lasagne; maybe some blondies
Monday: TBD
Tuesday: Caramelized onion ramen, cucumber and avocado salad
Wednesday: TBD
Thursday: Lentil and potato pie; asparagus?
Friday: Back to the Bay Area for the next part of our trip
Have the best week possible, everyone. Happy cooking!

Didn’t seem political to me. These days are tense (I hope my statement is not seen as political because I’m not taking a side, stating reality) and there is a lot of sensitivity all around.

We are still allowed to disagree with the President, at least for now. I didn’t feel like apologizing for what is going on was overtly political, but it sure feels like it now.

We are a community here and I hope there is still some way to express some things without them seeming overtly political when we empathize with the situations of others in our community, including those directly affected in their lives and their employment. I’m with you LLM on this, and I hope there is some leeway allowed. Maybe my comment will be blocked as well.

Shutting off empathy for others directly affected by current events also, in my view, makes this a less welcoming place for all.

Yes, you’ve now made this a less welcoming place for all. Taking a break. Good bye.
