Weekly Menu Planning - June 2025

To make it easy, I just dump a 4-oz can of green chiles in the soup (for two people). Oh, and a dash or two or three of Tapatio is crucial.

For two adults in San Diego:

Breakfasts: Granola and berries with almond milk. Might try making some homemade granola.

S: Takeout - chicken caesar wrap and fries from the pub on the corner, shared with my husband.

Su: (tonight) salad with avocado/cucumber/carrots/salasa topped with sliced chicken quesadillas (kinda acting as croutons) - salad

M: Pasta with chicken (or turkey, if I can find it), asparagus, lemon cream sauce

T: Fish sandwiches, served with fruit- seafood

W: Leftover pasta before an evening outreach event

Th: Cheeseburgers, watermelon or French fries (mood depending) on the side

F: 4th of July - picking up pizza from a local immigrant-owned restaurant recently targeted by ICE, ice cream from an LGBTQ-owned shop.

Take care of yourselves!

Did I miss something? Was he attacked by a rabid animal??

Even if someone isn’t attacked, if they have come in contact with a bat, or other animal, one often has to go through the protocol.

My friend’s sons had to go through it because there was a bat in the house and they couldn’t be sure if the kids had come in contact with the bat. The bat had been in the room where the kids had been sleeping.

There was a story in Toronto this weekend about Public Health looking for a person who was in contact with a possibly rabid injured bat.

That would be great Ginny!

He was riding his bike out in the mountains and got attacked by two dogs. The owner came out and talked to him but hid the dogs when the police went by later. He had to go to the ER, and it has been pretty rough.

That’s absolutely terrible. I’m sorry! Hope he heals well.

Oh geez, was this on Mallorca? I somehow remember LLD taking a bike trip there. Our dear friend and neighbor took a biking trip there with her bestie biking buddy; they were out riding one day, and he tried to avoid a dog, fell, and broke his femur. It was quite the ordeal.

He did do a biking trip in Mallorca (he’s done a few there at this point) but this happened in NC. He got up extra early to drive out to the mountains so he could do a full day of mountain biking and I got a text about an hour in saying he was in the ER. The worst part was him being a couple hours away - nothing ai could do to help.

I hope the new washer installation is successfully completed now!

If it’s ok to ask about your new laundry machines…we are in Somerville and our 12 year old electrolux front loader served us very well until today.; error code on drain pump. DH was first sure he could repair it himself and watched a video. I was skeptical.

Now he’s decided it’s probably time to replace both machines to get a “pair” deal given their age. If you are happy with your new ones, would you mind sharing models and where you got them? We’ve purchased all our appliances from Yale and have mostly been pleased.

Thanks and good luck!

I’ll message you about the washer/dryer (since they’re not technically food related!).

How awful! Hope he recovers quickly from the shock and is alright!

Such a horrible event that could have avoided by the dog owner and why in this day and age were his dogs
not vaccinated! Probably the dogs could be put down when should be the owner!

The July thread is up!

Very sorry to hear this.

I know even vets in Canada are having trouble with some people who are not getting their pets vaccinated thanks to the anti science movement, then expecting to be able to bring their unvaccinated pets into the vet clinic when they need other medical care.

There’s a big sign at my vet that pets that haven’t been vaccinated (not talking about puppies or kittens getting their first vaccines) are not allowed inside - to protect the staff, other pets and clients.

Hope your husband has a full recovery from the wounds. Dog bites can be awful.
