Creeping back in but low profile the WNBA is now my goto TV, sorry DH!, but my son and I have a healthy debate and my granddaughter loves Cailtln Clark and actually wears the tshirt I.gave her for her 10th birthday. Watching sports means easy meals like fish sticks for DH and pan fried cod for me. I bought my first bag of frozen shredded potatoes and they are our new french fries. Package directions as I am not ready for funeral potatoes. Coleslaw and Caesar salad for the greens.
Thanks Saregama and Linguafood for your kindness.
@ginnyhw You are missed here on WMP!
So nice to hear from you — please come share actuals or just chat, if planning is not in your realm of possibility these days (I know I’ve had plenty of that these past two years).
I love those shredded potatoes! I just made note of them over on the TJs Ideas / Quick Meals thread — they make a great egg dish a la tortilla espanola, without much work. I have also used them in egg muffin cups, similar idea.
My friend’s teen daughter turned them into a fantastic side dish at thanksgiving by adding just sour cream and cheese.
Who doesn’t love easy meals?! I’m always browsing through other folks’ ideas here because it’s easy to get bored with my own.
FYI there’s a new thread about repurposing TJs products and easy meal ideas.
Strikes me that similar products exist everywhere, so it’s not really restricted to TJ’s access.

@ginnyhw welcome back! I too enjoy hearing your news and I would like to echo @Saregama 's suggestion to post actuals or just to chat if you feel so inclined. I love hearing about your dogs too but I am a sucker for animal stories I think it’s sweet your granddaughter is wearing the Caitlin Clark tshirt you bought her and it just goes to show what a thoughtful grandma you are.
ginny, so nice to see you back here. I’ve missed you since the Chowhound days. Where are you in the Berkshires? We had a very rare few days away in Shelburne Falls a couple of months ago and drove to North Adams for the museums. Really want to get back further west and south soon, the real Berkshires, to me.
I grew up in NC with college basketball mania and really enjoy watching the women’s game now. It’s so cool your granddaughter loves Caitlin Clark.
Now if y’all could convince @retrospek to return . . .
We ended up on Lee because we started comong to Tanglewood 20 odd years ago. We had a next door neighbor who played with the BSO and we used to watch them pack up the kids every summer and come
to the Berkshires … we could rarely afford to go to Symphony Hall but everything out here is more affordable and casual. You can picnic with wine and gourmet food that you bring with you to the concert and sit under a starry sky and hear beautiful music!
Lawn seat tickets are very inexpensive, parking is free and if this is too rustic you can buy a ticketed seat in the shed and dine at the grill.
She seems quite happy in her newfound digs
Probably TMI but if I were to wear a WNBA tshirt it would say Angel Reese. They are both awesome but she’s my girl.
I will! We binged it.
Lee sounds lovely. My half knee replacement at age 43 was needed long before that; delayed for a while because I was so “young.” It was followed by a hip replacement a year later and the other side hip replacement again long delayed, in 2013.
The half knee replacement is still mostly doing fine after 25 years but I’d need a actual seat at the concerts but we are more interested in the minimal light star skies, so I hope we come out your way soon! What do you recommend in terms of food and lodging?
Sounds a lot like the dish DH calls Funeral Potatoes! (Here is a recipe that seems like the one we’ve had.)
Sitting under the stars with gourmet food and a bottle of wine while listening to the symphony sounds so much nicer than sitting in a concert hall.
Quite likely. She got it from the NYT who did a Thanksgiving feature on some old school recipes. She also made a self-saucing chocolate cake which I think was from the same feature. Both were so decadent but we couldn’t stop eating them!
ETA:
Ok, I can’t find a feature. But these are the recipes, and yes, the potatoes are funeral potatoes. She took some liberties (bec she asked mom and auntie, and neither of us is a stickler for following much of anything )
This is the version of Funeral Potatoes that my cousin’s wife, who happens to be Nathan Fillion’s aunt, makes. Nathan has definitely eaten these at Xmas, Thanksgiving and Easter.
If you have a handicapped placard and it sounds like you would be eligible there is tons of parking and golf carts bring you to the entry gate. Free wheelchair service can be requested to bring you to your seat and pick you up and deliver you to the gate.and the golf cart to your vehicle. I think this service would require a seat in the Shed but lawn chairs are available to.rent if you bring a picnic or wine. No food allowed in the shed. If this works for you there are loads of rentals and restaurants to choose from.
