Waxed Paper -- Is It Disappearing?

I don’t use waxed paper very often, and when it looked like a needed a new roll, I checked around, and neither my supermarket (ShopRite), not Stop & Shop, nor Walmart has a store brand of it anymore. Apparently only Reynolds Cut-Rite makes waxed paper now. Are people just not using it any more?

It’s damn near impossible to find in German stores, so we bring it every summer bc we love it for wrapping cheese. Most cheesemongers, however, seem to have access to it.

Here in PA it’s pretty easy to find at most supermarkets.

While I do keep waxed paper on hand, I use it so infrequently that a roll can last well over a year. I can only remember seeing Cut-Rite… never a store brand.

If I had to guess, parchment has probably replaced waxed paper for most uses.

My Dollar Tree has waxed paper. I use it from time to time.

For years Costco carried something called Kabnet Wax, which was not like the WP you’re seeking, but almost as good for wrapping sandwiches. They don’t carry it anymore. I was able to find a few boxes on ebay (vintage!), but wonder what I’ll do when I run out.
