Sorry, I couldn’t make it through the whole video. Since I’ve been to both places so many times over the years, those two people were driving me bonkers. In my personal opinion, WH cannot hold a candle to CB for breakfast. CB serves fresh made from scratch biscuits, Real butter and Dickinson’s blackberry jam. Plus, (you might want to close your eyes Phoenikia) I always order the delicious cheesy hash brown casserole instead of their hash browns. Which are no better or worse than WH.![]()
I think I’d like the cheesy hash brown casserole. I’m open to that. LOL. Sounds like Funeral Potatoes
Anybody know how Greg Phillips likes his eggs scrambled?

Personally, I do not believe in teleportation. I am confident he was actually transmogrified a la Calvin and Hobbes. However, either way, he made the absolute right call going to a Waffle House.
I can’t find any source for Gregg’s order.
So close, yet so far.
One regret is not visiting the Waffle House in Pigeon Forge, TN, when it was an option.
Believe it or not, I have been to that one. It was solid. But seriously Waffle House is just a diner. Ours closed during Hurricane Helene.
Yes, it is just a diner, but the typical American diner is vanishing. It saddens me.
If Waffle House closes, you’ve got serious trouble. They are the last places to close, and usually end up serving first responders for free during the crisis. That’s part of their corporate culture, which also includes having every employee work at least one day a year in a Waffle House – cooking, serving, or washing dishes. It’s a model for every corporation – good people.
I’m a fan of diners generally, and hardly ever eat breakfast anywhere else.
We don’t have too any diners that serve so many options with respect to shredded hash browns up here.
Most of the diners in southwestern ON and Toronto do not excel at breakfast potatoes these days. I don’t even have a favourite place for home fries or hash browns. I think one or 2 generations think deep-fried frozen McCain potatoes are good home fries.
Yeah…we took it as a bad sign ![]()
No water or power in most of Asheville for weeks.
I’d rather have tater tots or a deep-fried hashbrown patty over most places breakfast potato offerings. Bleh.
Oh, I love a good deep fried hash brown patty or tots. Tots are also more common in the States, and the hash brown patties aren’t common at diners, just at fast food places or at home.
I’ll find some photos of the Sad Canadian frozen taters I don’t like.
Most Tex-Mex places around here make excellent breakfast potatoes.
Here’s today’s breakfast order in your honor:
Scrambled eggs, ww toast, hashbrowns well done and topped, peppered, and capped (I think that was the terminology – tomato, jalapeño, and mushroom). I think the mushroom may be canned. Everything was nicely browned at least.
Breakfast for three came in under $30 before tip.
aww thanks!! looks like a good breakfast and good value!
Vecchiouomo – examples?
My favorite breakfast spot is Joe’s Bakery. I also enjoy La Posada and Cisco’s. The typical Tex-Mex breakfast potato is good sized chunks, soft in the middle with crunchy edges. I have also had good ones at Maudie’s.
PS, Much like the Waffle House pairing of hash browns and over easy eggs, I love a bite of Mexican breakfast potatoes mopped through frijoles refritos, egg yolk, and salsa when eating huevos rancheros.
