Updates and running commentary from our critters

I wonder if it is safe to try something like chicken broth?

I just did. He usually isn’t a big fan of people food, and he only had a couple of licks from what I can tell. I guess that’s better than nothing, so thank you so much for the suggestion! :pray:t2:

I’m so so sorry to hear about your poor baby. I know what it is like to feel helpless. All you can do is give him hugs, kisses, and scratches. Hopefully you can get some encouraging news after the ultrasound results.
When one of our previous cats wouldn’t eat anything for a few days, the vet gave her some sort of appetizer stimulant injection that all of a sudden brought her back to life and made her ravenous. I’m not sure what the injection included ( maybe vitamin B)?

In a bit of delightfully unexpected news, we received a beautiful bouquet of yellow roses delivered yesterday. It came from Chewy.com with a note of condolences. That was so thoughtful of them and very much appreciated! We used to get an autoship of Gucci’s cat food and kittie litter from them. We also get dog rolls and toys for Matisse. They are the best!

Thank you again so much for the suggestion, @BeefeaterRocks!! He had a few more sips from the broth just now, and a little kibble. Also a LOT of water. I couldn’t be happier today :pray:t2:

Chewy is amazing. Not only their delivery speed (I swear we joke that it wouldn’t surprise us if something arrived the day BEFORE we order), but their response to people losing their fur babies is unparalleled.

As for our monkey boy, he got the stimulant from me massaged into his ears. It made him want food but not eat :frowning:

OTOH, see my response to beefeaterrocks

I do not own any critters but i have a bunch that spend enough time here that they should be paying rent.

So sorry for your shared pain and worry. Very sad news. Hopes for a more hopeful outcome.

Record breed for the deer in my area. Mild winter gave another chance for breeding. Just ate the last of my wild turkey. Legs are hard to cook, but I breast them out and just use that. Pressure cook the rest for the dog.

Never had the chance to try wild turkey other than some turkey jerky that was only ok. I have a LOT of turkeys in my area but no one i know hunts them and i haven’t hunted in more than 10 years.

I just love listening to the ‘peep-peep-peeps’ this time of year as they travel through. So sweet and innocent.

Chewy has been great to us.

So sorry to hear this news - hoping for best possible outcome. I’m sure you’re trying everything to entice him to eat - we were in the same boat a few years ago with our elderly tortoiseshell cat. We found some pouches of food, I think by Fancy Feast, that was mostly a brothy gravy, with small pieces of soft protein. I can’t remember the name of it at the moment. Our kitty would lap the juices up, but left the solids. In any case, hoping you find something that works for treatment and nutrition for your kitty.

How is your little guy?

Not good. He has huge bleeding sores where he has chewed and scratched himself raw. We went to the specialist vet for a follow up yesterday. He was dismayed — he actually now has 2 conditions - the one he was first seen for and the ringworm — and the treatment for one condition precludes treating for the other. Dr. sent off a culture to see if the ringworm has resolved - because if it has, he can treat the second condition without potentially making the ringworm worse. They glued rubber claw covers on his back claws (yes, I’ve kept them clipped) to try to stop the damage from the self-excoriation. He now has chewable pills to try to start treating the allergic dermatitis without steroids.

He is still in quarantine. I spend several hours, gloved and gowned, in his room with him every day. He sits in my lap. He is not playful. He is eating, though.

I’m so sorry to hear about your little boy. I hope the ringworm has resolved & they can treat him and get him all back to his playful self :crossed_fingers:t2:

Thank you. He’s only 1 year old. I asked the vet yesterday if he was going to die. He didn’t say yes, but he said that the treatment would be difficult going forward.

That is far too young. I am hoping for the best possible outcome for your kitty and you, truly  :pray:t2:
