Updates and running commentary from our critters

Meant to post yesterday. These were at an antique shop I went to in Southern Maine, and I had to take pics to send to my sister.

 That one is very much like several pictures of my late, great Alfie. His toofie fangs were always very prominemt.

Biscuit is the garden supervisor while her humans weed. And weed.

She also received a free “pup cup” of whipped cream at our local coffee place this morning, which the barista walked out to her in our car. Biscuit is having a good Sunday.

The arm wrestling one is very funny, as is the cat bopping one (my two bop each other all the time).

OMG, Alfie and Finnegan used to do this ALL THE TIME! The sound of a very heavy Fat Boy Slim Shady Alfie hitting the ground was like a mini earthquake sometimes.

And now Murphy and Finn do it, with the smaller Murph taking down the bigger Finn.

My girl is now too old to engage in such matches, and she has let her newest little brother know this. But her previous 2 brothers were regularly whupped by her. It was funny!

Classic. Walter, the opera singing French bull dog. His talent, enthusiasm and conviction are unparalleled.

Popped up in my memories today, and I could not not share. @paryzer

Also, before we had a dog I didn’t know that somehow it’s perfectly normal for people to remember the names of dogs we see on our walks but not the names of their humans.

Thus we know George, Joanie, Franklin, Norm, (the late great) Lucky Ginsberg, and other pups but can’t name a single one of their people.

I know our friends’ pets’ names better than their children’s.:grimacing: :face_with_peeking_eye:

When I had my dogs, I always saved their people’s name under the dog’s name. I still have a few Red Mike and Gracie Beth in my contacts

(Sadly, all of the dogs that were in thar circle have now crossed the bridge…happily the people friendships remain)

I live in an apartment building and one couple in our building had the most adorable standard poodle I’ve ever seen. They eventually got married and moved out since they bought a house when it occurred to us we all knew the dog’s name (Charlie) but not the owners.

Looks too pretty to weed.

If you mean Biscuit, she does think she is too pretty to weed. :upside_down_face:

That shade garden was overrun with grapevine, dames rocket, bittersweet, trumpet vine, and thorny blackberries. That’ll happen when nobody weeds out those invasives for say, 20 years (mostly before we moved in). Slowly making a dent. Verrrry slowly.

I try to keep ingredients out of Zeke’s reach when cooking. Today, I sauteed some mushrooms for an omelet, and put them on a plate that wasn’t quite out of reach. Up on his hind legs, tongue straining to reach the plate, he didn’t seem very interested in the mushrooms themselves, but he did lap up the drippings, oil and mushroom liquid from the plate. I rinsed off the shrooms and the plate. After I ate, I did give him the plate to lick, as I always do.
