His choice.
He’s home.
Good boy! (and I’m a cat mom)
So…17 hours later, have you named him, Steve?
Chance, Scout, Duncan, Astro, Bear, Hank, Max, Ranger, Watson… I’m liking Chance, since he took a chance on going up to your wife and found his forever home.
Good for you! That pup looks like an excellent candidate for spoiling. Don’t ask me how I know.
So you’ve been to the vet, who presumably checked to see if the dog was microchipped. ETA: Oops, I missed that you wrote the vet checked for the chip.
Though I am really rooting for you to keep him, if that’s what all of you want. Dogs will let you know if they’d like to be part of your family, in my experience.
Also ETA: Plus he’s already been to the pet store with you.
Brewer’s yeast added to his diet?
That’s actually quite clever, and I’ll suggest it to Mrs. ricepad.
We discussed naming him, and realized that whether we keep or rehome him, we need to start training him with some basic commands (heel, sit/stay, come), and we really want to take him to the dog park to see how well he does with other doggos. OTOH, we don’t want to take him there if we can’t reliably call him, and we can’t call him if he doesn’t have a name he recognizes! I had been partial to “Neko-chan” (‘kitty’ in Japanese) because I have an strange sense of humor, but Mrs ricepad is not keen on it.
No, but I picked up some fish oil capsules and we’ve been treating him topically with coconut oil. The oil seems to be providing substantial relief, because he’s not scratching nearly as much. Not looking forward to getting fish burps in my face, though.
Thanks for keeping us in the loop. I hope the story has a happy ending.
P.S. I like Chance, but I appreciate the humor of Neko-Chan.
My daughter’s dog, a street dog adopted from Nicaragua, is named Miss Kitty, photo with our neighbor.
Or the flatulence from the Brewer’s yeast.
Adorable!
He had some epic flatulence! We didn’t have any dog food in the house, but we did have dry cat food. Since we didn’t know how recently he’d eaten or how hungry he might be, we fed him about half a cup of the kitty kibble. I had forgotten how farty a dog can get from cat food. Practically eye watering.
I was reading this, and yelled NOOOOOO!!! at my phone! LOL
Not me!! He can pull snuggle duty as a pillow!
Look at that doggy smile!!
I used to give my dog about half a cup of dry cat food at the end of the opening day of pheasant season. She would have run all day long (mostly because I’m not a terribly good shot and would fail to bring down about half the birds she put up), and I wanted her to have enough energy the following day for another half day in the field, and the higher protein content of the cat food seemed to do the trick. It would have been better if I had just kept her in top shape all year long, but that’s not my style for ANYTHING.
That face is everything
Owen, the 15+# black cat, went on a walk in the yard yesterday. There is a lot of catnip out there and he regularly enjoys a few leaves. However, what I did not see him consume was a whole 9" stalk that came up last evening with everything else he had chowed down on. Poor baby.
