Updates and running commentary from our critters

They’re unfortunately not as efficient, but my guess is it feels more like a rub-down than an assault

Yeah, the glove doesn’t do much. We use it mostly for the dog to get some of the initial shedding off after we bathe him. Mrs. P uses the below combs and items for the long hair cats, including a larger silver comb and flea comb not pictured. The curved scissors are used to cut hair that grows too long around the eyes and face. The toothbrush is used to clean around the eyes.

I have both a wire brush and a Furminator type thing. My long-haired boi loves them both and tells me loudly every morning that it’s time to brush him. The shorthaired spicy boi isn’t having any of it…no comb, no brush, no glurv. Just pets and scritches. On his time. Maybe. For a few minutes, and then the pointy ends come out.

Our Jake got so worked up when we had the nail clipper lady here last time we’re gonna try some gabapentin :frowning:

Ohmygosh! Surprisingly the spicy boi doesnt like having his nails clipped but he’ll sit still long enough to get the job done. The laidback cuddle monster fights like he’s possessed.

Go figure…cats be weird.

Jake is def the more laid back and bold one of the two, but both require a straightjacket, and Jake seemed to reenact a certain scene from Jacob’s Ladder :face_with_peeking_eye:

He managed to turn himself around so his feet/legs weren’t anywhere near the holes in the jacket.

Jonesy is a chicken shit, but he doesn’t put up much of a fight.

I bought a strait jacket for Ziggy, and one of those cat wraps, but fortunately he’s cool with his mani-pedis, which I inflict on him with songs and kisses. :joy:. I played incessantly with his l’il toe beans from the moment I got his kitty self, hoping he’d be chill with getting his feet worked on. Guess I lucked out.

There are moments when Jake is so snoozy I could probably try to clip them, but it’s almost always later in the evening when I don’t want to turn all the lights on to get a better view.

But I might sneak in a nail or two…

Our baby is on his way :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:
The pet delivery service just sent me this picture. She should be here around 1:30. It’s a 3 1/2 hour drive without stops.

Thank you

I really think it’s best to clip nails in good daylight. My Darcy tolerates it but someone has to hold her firmly next to me on my bed.

The two late Abyssinians didn’t weigh much but were all muscle and REFUSED, they had to go to a groomer or vet!

Right. Which is at the root of our dilemma: day light = great for clipping, no bueno for crazy Jake. Night time = shit for clipping, Jake super-chill :woman_shrugging:t2:

Our baby is finally home where he belongs :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: He is gorgeous

I have magnifying glasses I use. One time nicking the quick is one time too many.

I def need readers now

Thankfully, I’ve never nicked the quick.

I nicked little Mika just once. I felt so bad. I ran her to the vet. They sort of laughed at me.

I hope you found a new vet :face_with_open_eyes_and_hand_over_mouth:
