Our boy left us yesterday. He took sick about five weeks ago (probably lymphoma) and declined slowly and then very quickly. Our hearts are broken.

Oh, no. I’m so sorry. It’s absolutely heartbreaking how many of our furry family we lose to those GD lymphoma.

I’m so very sorry, @small_h . It’s so hard when they take ill and can’t tell you what’s wrong. He was well loved, I’m sure. My heart breaks for you.

Thank you. You are correct that they can’t tell you what’s wrong, and you also can’t convince them that the indignities you are imposing on them might actually be helpful. Maybe this is why people have kids. You can explain stuff to kids.

The original estimate for his life expectancy was two months to two years. The actual was fewer than six weeks from onset of symptoms. I hope you had some time to prepare, as we did. But not enough; it’s never enough.
