Updates and running commentary from our critters

So, my husband and I went to a tasting at a little wine shop last evening. As it wrapped up, I praised the owner’s dog who was A Very Good Girl for lounging behind the counter quietly while the humans were sipping wine. When the shop owner mentioned it was time for them to go home and eat, the dog immediately licked her lips the second she heard eat. My dog does the same thing, and will also ask for food that way. We speak in words and our dogs—at least some—respond in sign language!

dogs absolutely ‘pick up’ on words - and noises . . .

we have to use the NATO alphabet to spell things out - using just the plain w-a-l-k, he learned that. so we went to whiskey-alpha-lima-kilo.
now, , , , he’s learned having a whiskey means “lets go!”
and tango has been learned as t-r-e-a-t . . .

no matter inside or out, if I start using a knife the cutting board, he hears it and is shortly right there to help out . . .

Post-lunch nap for my boy. Kitty purrs are the best sound to shut out all that noise.

One of the nicest compliments I’ve received was a vet who told me he wanted to come back as my dog (not in a creepy way). He said my guys were consistently healthy and well-behaved but not spoilt.

( I mean…I spoil all my critters, but they don’t act that way.)

I couldn’t stop laughing at this, and tears were streaming! So reminiscent of DD2’s Boston terriers being terrified of our cat. One of them wouldn’t even look in her direction - I think he thought if he couldn’t see her, she couldn’t see him. I did feel sorry for the doggies that were so upset they were shaking.

Today, we officially adopted Jonesy (bc of his eye issues, we were only “fostering” him).

And here’s Jake the snuggle bug, getting his post-brekkie lovin’ in.

I may have to cancel my PT sesh… “there’s a cat in my arm & I can’t move.” :grinning_cat_with_smiling_eyes:
