Trader Joe's YEA/NAY/MEH, 2023 Edition

Well, in theory, the bun should already have poppy seeds. I’m not all crazy about the bagel seasoning as some folks are, since I have a relatively low tolerance for caraway seeds. Not a big rye bread fan either.

I’m a very bad Jew.

Milk chocolate is always a miss in our house too.

It may take a while for me to get there but I may just give that a try. Can’t even believe I just wrote that.

It’s delicious, but the original is VERY tasty. Japadog offers a Kurobata pork sausage.

There are a number in Vancouver, BC and surrounds, but there’s also one at the Santa Monica Pier, if you happen to be down that way…

Roundman’s in Fort Bragg? I love that place! We stop in whenever we’re on that stretch of the coast.

yup. We go at LEAST once a year or so, but I’d never heard of Roundman’s until @shrinkrap pointed them out to me last year.

My favorite thing out there food-wise is the Princess Cafe down by the docks. Get a half doz. oysters, a crab sandwich, and a bowl of lobster bisque. Sit on the patio, enjoy a beer.

i once wrote in a review that milk chocolate is a waste of time and white chocolate is an oxymoron.

I thought so too, but we can both agree on Tony’s Chocolonely. It’s even a B Corp

Not familiar with Tony’s Chocolonely but see it’s available look able very near me. Looks like there are several types. Can you elaborate?

I bought a bag of these yesterday. Had a few pieces and they all essentially tasted the same to me. Feel the same in that it won’t be going into my rotation.

It’s just a good, creamy milk chocolate. Whole Foods sells a sampler. I also like the pretzel version you can get on Amazon.

Roundman’s bacon is fantastic!

By chance, I had the bulgogi fried rice tonight. Meh for me–kinda bland and the beef was tough.

Thanks for the tip! We’re heading up there in mid-August to escape from Outside Lands Hell, so appreciate any dining beta. (And apologies for extending this further off-topic…)

Bulgogi fried rice was a Nay for me. Barely any beef, and very little flavor.

I am a Nay on most of their fried rices though.

It’s a Dutch company, and they’ve got a few flavors indeed. In Amsterdam, I saw a couple of Ben & Jerry’s collaborations.

We like the veggie fried rice as a base, add more vegetables and left over pork or chicken. And season to our taste. A quick lunch or dinner.

Yes, but if I have to season and add veggies and proteins anyway, I may as well make the fried rice myself because it takes the same time :joy:

Maybe …but it’s a good way to use up leftovers. Which we’d probably just toss anyways.

We love the Japanese vegetable fried rice. We very rarely cook rice, so we don’t generally have leftovers to turn into fried rice. It’s super-easy to add veg & meat or fish to it for a super-quick meal.
