Just finished the jar of lemon stuffed green olives. Pretty darn tasty. Lemon adds a nice flavor and fragrance. And the red waxed amaryllis plant bloomed in our absence remarkably well.
YEA!!! …for the almond triangle in the box of six (bakery tables) Chocolatey Dipped Danish Cookies. YEA for the coconut macaroon and the chocolate creme top, which is a chocolate-shelled, chocolate mousse-topped yellow cookie. But the triangle is superbly rich and bursting with both crisp sliced almonds and a soft almond filling. Two demure bites (half the triangle) are satisfying enough to take the place of a bigger dessert.
Another YEA to the holiday Cornbread Crackers. Diamond shaped, in a white bag. Think Ritz made a cornbread version.
A highly qualified YEA for this jarred Alfredo with black truffle bits and what I’m guessing is a shot of that one chemical that steps in for actual truffles in most ‘truffle’ products.
Most jarred Alfredo-type sauces are terrible-to-marginally acceptable. TJ’s versions are no exception. Their ‘Cacio e Pepe’ sauce is a particularly flavorless and sad example.
This isn’t really all that different. It tastes more or less (mostly less if we’re being honest) of a middling parm-like cheese, along with the conglomeration of thickeners and emulsifiers you’d expect in a low effort mass market thing.
But, I somewhat shamedly confess to liking the stuff. And I’m on record as really disliking artificial truffle-flavored things. But, I dunno. Throwing this over whatever random pasta scratches that ‘Mac and cheese’ itch without needing to dump half a jar on it.
So, yea. Realistically, it’s a MEH at best, but a personal YEA for me.
Had to make a run up to south Nashua, NH for a GC for my nephew, and that store was in the same strip mall as Trader Joe’s. Well, OK. I needed 2 more boxes of their #2 unbleached coffee filters, and I hadn’t been there for at least 6 months, so in I go.
$60 later…
One of the items I got was their Meyer Lemon Cookie Thins. New to me. (I also got their Triple Ginger Cookie Thins, but haven’t broken in to that package yet.)
Oh, these are really nice. Very lightly lemony, with a bare hint of sweetness. Serving size is 9 thins, 9 servings per box ($4.49). I had three thins and it sated my desire for a bit of sweet after dinner. Teaspoon for size comparison.
Pardon if, after more than 700 posts in this thread, someone has mentioned this. But I recently was wowed by TJ’S green olives flatbread crackers. I dislike olives, but these are goooood…
Only $60? I went to the Burlington store last week, needing 4 things: cheese, chocolate, nuts, lettuce. $204 and 3 full totes later…all set until 2025.
I walked in with 1 reusable bag and filled it to the brim and told myself “Stop!”. LOL The only thing not for me was a box of sea salt caramels as a hostess gift. I did NOT want to buy anything frozen or refrigerated as I wasn’t sure I was going right home (I ended up doing so). Otherwise, there were several things calling my name, but I knew I just didn’t have the room.
Next year.
So, one other thing I bought yesterdat was TJs Gingerbread Sandwich cookies. These are really good! Reminds me of a gingerbread muffin with cream cheese frosting…just not so cloyingly sweet.
It’s a soft cookie, great molasses flavor at the front, with a hint of ginger towards the end. I certainly wouldn’t mind if it had more ginger! And the cream filling is light; doesn’t detract from the cookie.
I’m kind of screwed with the “Best By” date, as I won’t be eating them all in two days. But I’m sure they’ll taste great even after Friday!
18 cookies for $5.99.
My family of 3 agrees they are better than we had expected. More ginger would be very appreciated by us. They are not too sweet, which is usually the case for me. And the filling is light and fluffy.
We 3 managed to dispatch them in three days.
YEA for Soft Bite Mini Almond Biscotti. These are in the same size rectangular, clear plastic container as the other mini biscotti, but are smaller, so a serving is 3, not 2 like the previous flavors. The chew is by no means soft, just slightly less crunchy than that of its predecessors.
These are a big YAY❣️ for me, but my waistline would like to call it a “NAY‼️“. Thank goodness they’re seasonal! and I can share them with my sister!
The macaroons are nothing special, but the almond triangles and the Sarah Bernhardts (almond cookies topped with a chocolate cream filling and decorated with freeze dried raspberries) are amazing. I see that this product was offered last year, but instead of the Sarah Bernhardts, there were marzipan Napoleon cookies. I wasn’t here in the US then to try them out, but I bet they were good.
Here’s a photo from the current Fearless Flyer.
thanks for this, I had the box in my hand but wasn’t sure, next time I’ll grab one!
For the first time, my daughter made Ina’s Coconut Macaroons. Easy & delicious.
Macaroons are the perfect compliment to 'awa/kavakava. Just saying…
