Trader Joe’s Product Reviews – YEA/NAY/MEH – 2025 Edition

Interestingly, I prefer the chicken version over the pork, but you can get better soup dumplings at Asian markets.

These are in my freezer at all times. Not a vegetarian! They’re just delicious.

When my wife and I are both working from home we often make a quick lunch with them and throw together something akin to this recipe: https://cooking.nytimes.com/recipes/1025695-dumpling-and-smashed-cucumber-salad-with-peanut-sauce

Oh wow, that looks so fresh and delicious! Thanks for dropping the link, will definitely have to check this recipe out!

These are good, I like the shrimp ones too, and will throw a TJ’s scallion pancake in the air fry while steaming for lunch. Wasn’t crazy about their soup dumplings but often have Mila dumplings in the freezer.

With alcohol here it varies by retailer. Their record is good though.

I tried the calzone, it was good but nothing exceptional .It might be good to keep on hand in the freezer for an easy go to but (at least in this area), it probably makes more sense to go to a local pizza shop and grab a meatball sub.

Yes agreed, but it was definitely cheaper than that would have been. Being under the weather this week definitely gave me a new appreciation for Trader Joe’s!!

Pumpkin brioche bread was great for French toast. The pumpkin flavor is pretty subtle with some nice toasty cinnamon flavor as well. It held up well for French toast and went great with syrup. Will definitely get again.

OTS, but I’ve been really enjoying “morning buns” from Orwasher’s (at some farmer’s markets). Basically a cinnamon swirled bread baked like a muffin, but its almost a croissant dough, so when its heated, its just so good - no need for French toast

Good to know. I think orwashers is at Pleasantville market, which we frequent. We’ll have to look out for those!

Glad to hear you liked it!

YEA-ish for the Korean Japchae Fried Rice.
If you like Japchae, this is a bit more substantial with the same flavors.
I have yet to try the frozen Japchae, though.

Also YEA-ish for the Maple Brown Butter Almonds. Impulse buy, they are a bit sweeter than I like, but reminiscent of the candied cashews from the nuts for nuts street carts in nyc (in a good way).

NAY for the Scottish Cheddar special – it’s funky in a blue cheese kind of way I don’t enjoy.

Don’t bother; it’s horrible.

Completely agree. Underwhelming flavor and oddly sweet. Not a fan

A definitive HELL YEAH for the chuck, brisket & sirloin patties. Juicy, flavorful, and 1/3 lb. each. Plus $4 cheaper than Wegmans

I wish there was a japchae kit that had all the shredded vegetables – I make good japchae myself, but it’s a pain to prep the all veg when I have a craving for just a little for myself

Haven’t noticed these but will definitely look for them.

I had to pick up a few more cans of their fab dolma & the lemon mint spray we like. I was going to head to Wegmans for their patties, but decided to check TJ’s meat section.

After looking up Wegmans’ price it was an easy decision. And a good one

I tried those camping. Very handy not having to handle raw beef away from home. Just pull out and grill. Also the four pack matches TJs brioche buns 4 pack. Very convenient and enough fat content.
