Trader Joe’s Product Reviews – YEA/NAY/MEH – 2025 Edition

Lasagna doesn’t require as much al dente-ness, nor does mac n cheese. I think they’re easier to pull off.

As you noted, they all unfortunately contain the same mummifying levels of sodium.

Meh: Fruit Jellies Candy, billed as a limited-time offering, these showed up on the new products shelves. I was hoping these would be like pâtes de fruit, and the texture is right, nice and soft, not chewy like gummy candy, but thet are very sweet, so much so that the sweetness overwhelmed the fruit flavors (cherry, pear, mango, and peach). The cherry and mango weren’t so tooth-achingly sweet, but still didn’t have great flavor to me. Oh well, not much ventured at $2 for the 100g box.

I agree – not great. My kid likes the mango one.

We had the honey roasted pumpkin ravioli for dinner last night - I really liked it. The filling wasn’t too sweet and the pasta cooked up nicely - it is not too delicate but not too thick. We just had it with some butter but if I had had the energy I would’ve done a sage brown butter type deal on top.

There are a few lines of supermarket frozen pastas that aren’t bad for what they are as frozen pasta, but still loaded with salt. I think they use a flash freezing technique, and freeze sauce separately from all the other ingredients which helps prevent sogginess. They are sometimes a good quick option when you don’t have time, or for me I prep the night before to bring in for lunch at work.

Yea to the Pumpkin Brioche Bread. I’ve been making french toast with it for breakfast, and it has the perfect subtle pumpkin flavor. I’m normally picky with pumpkin flavored items, but this item is great.

I picked this up to make French toast this weekend with my daughter. I stuck it in the freezer since I have bad luck with bread products from TJ going bad quickly. Glad to hear it’s good, excited to try it!

Back when I worked a regular 9-5 (and often later) job and was single, those def came in handy for a quick meal. I am lucky to have the time to make pasta meals from scratch these days

I bought it two weeks ago and have left it in the fridge, and it seems to still be in good condition. Excited for you to try!

Big, bad NAY. Although TJ’s has a habit of dropping products despite being popular, the latest is a bridge too far. For years a staple cold cut was the Columbus Calabrese salami. They just replaced it with their own label - a larger pack for the same price but not even close as a replacement. Their own label is clearly inferior, the taste is much different and not in a good way the resealable doesn’t stay shut , so it has to be re- packed anyways . Bring back Columbus!

Big yea, assuming they bring it back this holiday season. Last year, they had Frick’s ham. It was a really excellent product and I hope/expect that it will be back this year.

Under the weather this week so leaning on a bunch of TJ stuff. We had the meaball calzone tonight - sauce was a little sweet for me and the bread part was a little doughy but otherwise we liked it. Frozen chicken tikka masala was serviceable. For lunch I had the butternut squash soup which was good- a bit one note but I like that it doesn’t have tomato in it (our local supermarket version does and I dislike that flavor in this soup). I also had the pesto pasta bowtie salad which was completely fine - nothing I couldn’t make better myself, but I didn’t have to lift a finger while feeling crappy so I won’t complain about any of it!

Meh for the pumpkin brioche Belgian waffles. Extremely sweet. My kiddo likes them.

Nay for the lychee bubbly. Very saccharine. I’m going to try to return.

I’ve only returned a few TJ items before. Each time they accepted without questioning and issued immediate refund. I was polite and so were they. I hope you have the same experience.

It is TJ policy to accept any returns without questioning. You don’t even need a receipt.

I love the red curry sauce here. All you need is some coconut milk, some veggies, choice of protein (tofu, chicken, etc.), and pour in the sauce to cook! One of my absolute favorite dishes.

I think a timeless favorite for me is the Trader Joe’s Thai Vegetable Gyoza. As a vegetarian, this is a staple household dinner for me if I steam them quickly on a pan with a splash of soy sauce and their Chili Crisp oil.
