They have prepared chimichurri in the same area as the zhoug, maybe you can doctor one of the other fried rices with it?
Re artichoke bottoms - Nigella had a recipe that roasts them crisp. There are probably other British recipe sources as the product was available there long before.
Question about Dutch Griddle pancakes: they come frozen with two stacks of four each in a package…… each 4-stack is all frozen together so what if I just want 2 or 3??? Anyone had any luck forcing them apart or microwaving very briefly just enough to separate then refreeze? I know, I know…. Just make my own or eat ; at a time! Too simple!!!
Yay for Sicilian Selezione EVOO, which delivers on the label’s promise of a “distinctive peppery finish”. The Spanish EVOO I was getting had some pepper, but not as much as this one.
major yay: dark chocolate and almond cookie tiles! crunchy, not too sweet, a bit salty. limited time , so stock up soon.
a few things not in stock. in somerville ma:
for reasons no one seems to know, mayonnaise
dry roasted hazelnuts are expected to be back in stock end of the month
last year’s fav, amarena cherry double cream goat cheese, should be in early february
Mayo is made with eggs, and our TJ’s location was all out of eggs yesterday presumably due to widespread avian flu (which is also why egg prices are through the roof lately). So that’s probably it.
except there were plenty of eggs — got a dozen large white for $3.49. and i had to stop a couple of other supermarkets where there was plenty of mayo. wondering if they changed producers.
Yesterday in Boston, “basic” cage free eggs were 3.49 and fancy blue heirloom eggs were 4.99. Today in nyc – no eggs at any price. (Yes, I transported a dozen from boston, I almost bought 2 dozen, then I thought – who am I ???)
Just tried the new frozen handheld chicken pot pies. Flavor was good, crust shell was light and flakey, but my take was that there wasn’t much filling in it. I could have had a clunker but I felt a bit ripped off.
Yay for the Sugar Plum cherry tomatoes, mainly because they come in a cardboard box with a cellophane window. Other varieties, and all of their grapes and berries, come in plastic clamshells.
