Potatoes go on sale on Wednesday morning - 5 pound bag for $.88 (limit 2). I had just finished up my previous load of potatoes late last week, so this is a good time for a sale and a good time to re-stock. Worse comes to worse, I can always make some gnocchi for the freezer!
They also have a 2 pound block of cheese on sale for $5, so I’ll grab one of those, as well.
All in all, I feel pretty well stocked in the freezer and the pantry.
Cream cheese goes on sale tomorrow morning 3 (blocks) for $5. Sunshine really liked that Lemon Cream Cheese Pasta, so I’ll make that again.
I’ll also make up some spinach & cream cheese perogies for freezer stock. Neighbor #2 likes them, so it won’t hurt to have extra.
There is also cabbage on sale for $.68/pound, probably wouldn’t hurt to grab a head and make up another batch of cabbage soup. The ladies both enjoyed it and I liked it, as well.
I’m averaging $300 CAD on Groceries, including TP / Paper Towels / Detergent per week, for 3 people. My DCs and I are barely eating out or eating take-out for dinner these days.
I’m probably spending around $30 CAD on my own coffee shop coffee, fast food drive thru lunches and take-out single pizza slices each week, when I’m out running errands.
I spent $200 CAD on Groceries today.
$150 on food and drinks at the indie grocery store and $50 on TP/ Paper Towels/ Ziplocs, etc at the chain store.
Around $90 CAD at the butcher last Sat, for 4 lb pork shoulder, a really big whole chicken (at least 4 lbs, which has been feeding us Sat to Tue, plus chicken stock in the freezer), and a pound of ground beef. I didn’t have to buy more meat this week.
Pineapple, which has been around $3.99 to $5.99 CAD a piece for the past 10 years cost me $8.99 at my local indie market today. I know it probably is cheaper at No Frills / Food Basics etc. I don’t have the time to price check before buying right now.
Today was my first shopping trip this week. I’ll also keep track of how much I spend between now and Sunday night.
It was a cold (well cold for AZ) but successful bicycle ride to two grocery stores this morning. In checking my digital coupons (before I left) I found lettuce on sale for 99 cents, so I picked up a head of lettuce, along with the cream cheese.
At the other store, I found a HUGE head of cabbage. I think I’ll use half in a stir-fry or fried rice (thanks @mig) and the other half in a soup. Maybe a lettuce and cabbage soup (along with other vegetables)?? I’ve made lettuce soup in the past and I’ve made cabbage soup – I’m guessing this might work??
