Top Chef Season 21

Thank you for the link! That helps a lot!

I guess I understood that part, it’s just hard to imagine how history got to the part where someone said "hey!, why don’t we throw kerosene on fire so we could make this boil?"

That huge kerosene explosion of fire was kind of gross. Bummed abt who got eliminated but need to watch last chance to see what transpired there. I follow Sarah on Instagram and she does look different!

Interesting interview with Soo Ahn

Where? One of those “exit interviews”?

Huh, I sure thought I’d pasted in the link. The interview was done before he was axed.

Always feel like when the editors put in a testimonial from one of the chefs that they miss their “wife, husband, child” they’re going to be eliminated. Oh well my two faves (loved the young Indian chef) are gone now but still like everyone else.

Started watching the new season of Great American Baking show on Roku. Prue and Paul are judges and it’s filmed in the tent in England.

Another interview with Soo, wherein he talks about LCK vs. the main show, and the dish that sent him home (or rather, back to LCK).

The picture of the menu said $16 for Ramen or Hainan Chicken.
5 or 6 years ago I would have thought it was too expensive for a solo lunch. Now I am thinking “What a bargain!”
LOL.
The past few years have seen a bit of a jump in my price point comfort levels.

Thanks for mentioning this, I watched the whole thing (six episodes) over the weekend.

 That was November '21.

Oh rats!
I thought it was $16 recently.
I have not seen a lot of bargains at cafes of late. No surprise.

Is it bad to hope that “table presentations” quickly become a distant memory.

I like the table presentation, when done well and thoughtfully planned. It’s creative and looks like it can be fun to eat. I’ve also always wanted to try a kamayan feast (a local place that offered this closed before I could try it). I would hate for it to be gimmicky though, and someone forcing this for a foods or meals just for the saying you can do this. I have always enjoyed seeing creativity and an artistic flair in the food and plating, as long as it doesn’t actually get in the way of someone eating and enjoying it.

Yeah, bummed about the elimination, but it became obvious as they served that it wasn’t going to work.

In the first few minutes of this weeks episode, is Savanah saying her father gave her the knife she stabbed her hand with?

She said her father made the knives she brought with her to the show. So that presumably includes the one she injured herself with. I think that was Savannah’s “family” story, along with the others’ talking about their partners.

That’s what I thought. I sort of wondered how her dad felt watching that. Ouch. In last week’s episode I remember her saying she had not used it before, so it was very sharp.
