I think Tom lost weight.
Starts tonight! I was wondering if Top Chef did it’s first episode on YouTube so it wouldn’t upstage Padma.
I purposely didn’t watch so I wouldn’t have this long wait 'til episode two. No major spoilers, but I felt so bad for the contestant who was clearly frustrated and flustered. It does make you wonder why sign up for the stress of this type of competition.
In the trailers they’ve already shared that there is a set of twins in competition. Really curious how the judges (or one of the judges) so quickly knew which one was which. I was checking if they had names on their TC coats, but I don’t think I saw any.
Wish I’d thought of that!
Did you see the picture of the twins as toddlers sitting on a ladies lap? One looked so much bigger.
That might have flashed by too fast for me to notice much. One does look a bit heftier on screen, but TV/film can be deceiving. I think one does have a thinner face. Maybe some more obvious differences in person vs the bits we get on screen.
You might have to have watched it three times. Don’t ask me how I know. ![]()
Well, presumably, a panic attack wasn’t something that chef experiences on the regular, and was a response to the very new situation. Kristen was great in her response, and I hope the stress doesn’t get to the person in general.
I did too and I was so impressed with Kristen for her clear concern
And she nailed the talking part too!
Watched the first episode last night although I was playing words with friends also. Always feel like the first few weeks are so full of chefs that I only start paying full attention about halfway through. Someone on reddit said hope those twins aren’t like the twins on last seasons Project Runway. Me too! Yes, I really like Kristen and her empathy was much needed for the chef who was freaking out. It’s great that she was a contestant and knows what everyone is going through. The most disturbing thing were the ads for all the cheesy gross reality shows on bravo. Ugh.
On the second episode; Talenti quickfire at the start;
Kristen " where you tasting as you went?"
Contestant Chef Oscar “I got what I needed out of it”
(chef-to-chef look?)
Kristen “I hear you”
I was really hoping the chilli challenge wouldn’t turn into some horrible pepper eating challenge. Came close, but not as bad as it could have been.
Sad about who got eliminated and no last chance kitchen. Oh well.
I find it a little strange why they decided not to offer last chance kitchen until 2 eliminations in. I think anyone cut in the early rounds could be any particular chef having a bad day. If they didn’t want to do that many contests - they could have just held 1 to start that would have the 3 or 4 contestants from the first few rounds. That way, those folks only have 1 additional shot to shine and win. It’s almost as if they are trying to raise table stakes and tension, but most of the chefs have usually had at least 1 bad cook.
Any thoughts?
I was a little worried!.
For some reason I can’t get Kristin’s green and white striped sweater out of my mind.
Was it too St. Patrick’s Day forward? ![]()
I don’t like skinny Tom.
I think maybe Tom should give Gail some of his Ozempic stash.
Are we generally running 1 episode behind? I understand the delay in streaming.
The trend of “I do this all the time at my restaurant / I grew up doing this with my family..” means someone is going to bomb in that challenge continues in Episode 3. I guess that may be one cliche of these cooking shows that never change. Same thing happened on the Padma / Culinary Cup show. I too really wanted people to go all out here with this challenge and do something completely graphic (artistic wise, not violence wise) but no one went for it.
Ah! Maybe. I have already watched twice! I have decided I don’t find people’s distress entertaining.
