My gracious that looks good. Was there enough left over to invent a new sandwich?
I have grown oxhearts, but I would like top try a new tomato each year. If the Spanish variety is available and looks promising as to time to maturity and disease resistance, I’d like to find seeds for next year.
Understood. If you get them from Renaissance in the link, or grow them at all, I’d love to know how it turns out!
I checked out Renaissance Farms, which does list the tomato seeds I am curious about under the French name. However, the Google info shows very bad reviews in 2024 (late shipments, bad germination, no replies to emails) and no mentions since. A site called Delectation of Tomatoes does list the variety, but the ordering method is quite unclear.
Sorry to hear that about Renaissance. I’ve never bought from them, but they often post about interesting tomato varieties.
I realize this is a tomato eating thread, but I know there are growers here too!
A quote
“I respect everything — the tools, having gloves, apron if you want, those squishy things you kneel on if you need that — you know, I respect the whole game,” he told me. “If I’m driving by seeing someone gardening, I’ll give a honk.”
A tomato tart with gruyere, ricotta and onions. My mother had all the ingredients ready to make this when I arrived today, except she had bought phyllo instead of puff pastry. We rolled with it anyway.
I was looking for a few obscure tomato varieties for next year’s seeds. I came across this site: www.delectationoftomatoes.com
run by Dale, who singlehandedly is maintaining seed availability for a few thousand tomato varieties. His prices are very low, as is the cost of shipping. I just received my obscure seeds and a very intriguing free sample. Check it out,
Tomato and dumpling “salad” from NYT/Hetty M.
Trying to make a dent in my garden tomatoes and get the last of the dumplings out of the freezer. Success.
That’s a combination that would not occur to me, but it looks delicious!
I know a lot of peeps here love it. We had it at a friend’s house & it didn’t quite work for me.
Felt the same, but I dug it. The chile crisp vinaigrette I especially liked.
