What’s For Dinner (WFD) acronyms/translations

ATK = America’s Test Kitchen

BGE = Big Green Egg

BISO = bone in, skin on

BLSL = boneless, skinless

BTB = Better Than Boullion

CH = Chowhound

CI = Cooks Illustrated

COTM = Cookbook of the Month

COTQ = Cuisine of the Quarter

DOTQ = Dish of the Quarter

FP = food processor

HBE = hard-boiled egg

KAF = King Arthur Flour

KOS = king oyster mushrooms

LW fries = Lamb and Weston frozen fries

M&C = mac n cheese

PIC = partner in crime

SBE = soft-boiled egg

Sinatra = cilantro

TPSTO = the proverbial sh!t ton of – variations include TPSTOG&G (the proverbial sh!t ton of garlic and ginger) and TPSTOSC&B (the proverbial sh!t ton of sour cream and butter)

YOLO = you only live once

AFAIK = as far as I know
BAS = big-ass salad*
BTDT = been there, done that
BTS = black tiger shrimp
COTC = corn on the cob*
DC = dining companion
FYI = for your information
HO = Hungry Onion
ICYMI = in case you missed it
IIRC = if I recall correctly
INDA = I’m never drinking again
SBE = soft-boiled egg
SE = Serious Eats
SOS = shit on (a) shingle
TOFTT = take / taking one for the team, aka TFTOFTT = thx for taking one for the team
WOL = Woks of Life

Somebody mentioned FTC and I couldn’t figure out what they meant. Googling brings up the Federal Trade Commission, Future Technology Centre, a gym! Another HO kindly pointed out it alluded to Food Talk Central.

And I was initially bemused by DC, which on many other forums stands for Dear Child(ren) but here stands for Dining Companion as per @Zoeliculious !

I think the DC for dining companion began on Chowhound, or at least, that is where I picked it up.

When I hear DC, and it’s not in a Hungry Onion context, it has usually meant District of Columbia or Diet Coke!

I don’t talk about DCs or dining companions anywhere other than Hungry Onion and Food Talk Central.

Our university is home to the largest student-run philanthropy event in the world, with its motto being “FTK” or “for the kids.”

Not sure that’s the most… ideal acronym, TBH, but I didn’t come up with it

FWIW: For What It’s Worth.
GTG: Gotta Go.
IDK: I Don’t Know.
LOL: Laughing Out Loud (or League of Legends).
NP: No Problem.
QQ: Crying (often used to tease).
TL;DR: Too Long; Didn’t Read.
WTF: What the F***.

I don’t bother Googling acronyms we use on this forum anymore because we like making up our own so whatever Google tells us is probably wrong. The lists above will be really helpful. Thanks to all for your contributions.
