The What Would You Order thread

For breakfast or brunch. I’m leaning towards the salad, too, or making a salad like that at home!

The Shrooms on toast were intriguing.

Hard to decide between the shrimp and grits and lox and schmear. Peach jonnycakes intrigues me, too.

What would you order for lunch at Eddingtons of Exeter, in Exeter, Ontario?
https://www.eddingtons.ca/menu/fall-2023-lunch?

This is what most small town continental or family restaurants in Ontario and other parts of Canada have in common. It’s probably the same in most parts of the US, as well.

These dishes are on almost every menu:
Club sandwich
A Burger
Bruschetta
Nachos
Poutine or other loaded fries, in this case, pickle fries
Caesar salad, as a starter or main

If it’s the town’s fancy restaurant, Sticky Toffee Pudding and Crème Brûlée are usually 2 of the 3 offered desserts. And usually, there are between 3 and 5 dessert offerings!

This is Exeter’s fancy place, hence the duck wings, steak frites, rainbow trout, and sticky toffee pudding.

Lamb burger and a salad for me, probably. I’m curious about the pickle fries, but only if there were a large number of people to share them with.

I ended up ordering the club wrap and Caesar, and a virgin Bellini.

My DCs ordered the trout, the Charlie Bird bowl, and the nachos. My DCs also ordered red velvet cake, chocolate torte, lavender and lemon sundae and the sticky toffee pudding.

That’s kind of my usual. Love mushroom swiss burgers. When I make burgers, that’s usually what I make. Thought I’d try something I never make at home, despite having a grand selection of cheese curds to choose from.

I spotted an amusing typo in the Martine’s menu ‘whelshrarebit’.

It’s not all one word but Welsh rarebit. They probably think the nation in question is Whales! :joy:

hilariously, on Toronto’s food subReddit, someone new to Canada was asking about where to eat that was convenient to the Princess of Whales theatre the other day . haha . People were having fun with that.

Only lately. I love a mushroom Swiss burger. I didn’t see it on the menu, although I saw the mushroom mozz, which also was tempting!
