The Good News Thread In The Age of Corona

Well, we had our first meal out last night and it was wonderful. Of course, “out” being the operative word, as it was outside with the new restrictions. We live in NY, so we are still closed, but neighboring Connecticut is open. It was great!! Particularly so because it was our 30th anniversary and our first happy occasion since my dad died 3 weeks ago. Fortunately, it was a nice evening, albeit a bit windy. The place was set up on their patio and in their 4 parking places in the lot. Service was still as good as ever as was the food. Of course, printed menus were replaced by disposable paper ones, oil for the bread was in a little take out plastic cup, as was the salt when we asked for it. Small price to pay!!

Happy anniversary.

It’s interesting to see how restaurants are starting to adapt. In England, we’re at least a month away from any sign of reopening, with no indications yet from the government about what changes will need to be made. It may be longer for the other nations of the UK as they are taking a much more cautious approach to relaxation (rightly so, to my mind).

Happy 30th! Glad you had a wonderful night, especially with all that you’ve gone through.

I’m so glad you had an enjoyable evening out. As others have said, you and hubby look great (and happy).

I can’t wait until I can sit outside and have a cocktail or bottle of wine served to me.

Reminds me of a conversation last night with my friend in Oregon. (As I’ve mentioned before, a totally different country than the rest of the US.) Anyway, she and her husband went to a bar for a couple of drinks and she remarked that it was so nice to see and be around other people. Here in our part of Washington, we’ll have to wait a couple more weeks, but it is something we’ve definitely missed - going out for dinner or a drink. It will feel like such a treat. That, and the nail salon.

I just received a small shipment of the hard stuff, not something you would buy off the street corner or get at a convenience store but the real deal.

Purell.

Oh, and it was free!

I got 4 bottles of the hard stuff delivered Tuesday. The local distillery is also producing hand sanitizer now and offers a free bottle with each purchase. Who knew they meant a free bottle for every bottle ordered? So I now have 4 liters of sanitizer!

What a score, re: the hand sanitizer. Next thing will be GWP masks, to pair with your new clothes!

Personally, I want a Stones logo mask, and a Dr Fauci one.

Mrs H is so fed up with the increasing grey, she’s literally just about to put colour on her hair. I shall, of course, say that she looks wonderful tonight.

As a woman with increasing gray, all I can say is you are a sweetheart of a husband.

Perfect, in fact you should put it on the dinner play list! Great song - love EC.

I should have added that I love Clapton. I only went to one of his concerts, but it was a great time. Totally agree with @Lambchop that this song should be on your dinner playlist.

You are a real peach, John. And @gaffk, I’ve seen EC several times. Simply superb.

So envious you saw EC - I’ve never had the pleasure! Did drive past his house in New Orleans though.
