Has anyone tried the tahini? It’s made in Canada.
I have but I didn’t like it too much since the tahini is on the dry side and not very spreadable. I usually buy tahoni at either the Persian grocery store I shop at or a Lebanese store since they make it in-house.
Thank you! Good to know. I really liked one I bought off Amazon from a US company Pepperwood’ s Organics that uses Ethiopian sesame seeds. It comes in a squeeze bottle and so tasty without being too bitter.
I should check my local Persian store for in-house tahini.
As much as I love Farm Boy, some of their products are a miss. I’m not fond of their tahini but we have a large Middle Eastern community in Ottawa so there are quite a few Middle Eastern stores around town. If they don’t make tahini in-house, they often have nice bottled versions.
Plenty are a miss.
I only post about what I like, or what I think others should be warned about.
The stuff that’s meh doesn’t usually get a mention from me.
What I avoid:
The hot sandwiches, including the breakfast sandwich, burger, hot dog, Italian sausage.
The frozen pork dumplings (the boxed shrimp dim sum mix is good, the big bag of frozen pork dumplings is not very good)
The frozen corn
The frozen peas
I don’t buy frozen duck legs from one location anymore since they were already off. I have had bad luck with live oysters and lamb from the same location. I let the store manager know. I only buy produce and pantry goods from that particular location now. I suspect it’s one or 2 inept or undertrained employees in the meat and seafood department that has caused these misses. LOL.
I agree 100% but mrsleny was asking specifically about the tahini so I gave my $0.02.
I would do the same in that situation. I’m not criticizing.
I think I did try the tahini but I rarely use it let alone finish a jar so I didn’t comment. I usually use it once before it goes rancid, a year later.
Okay got it. I read your post before you finished typing
I don’t buy prepared foods very often but I’ve tried some of the foods from their hot buffet and I’m not a fan. On the other hand their fruits and veggies and meats are good quality. Even the reduced veggies are a bargain IMHO. They now sell baskets of reduced veggies for $3.50 a basket and you get quite a few veggies in the basket.
When I first stopped by Farm Boy about 10 years ago, I wasn’t too impressed.
They have come a long way in 10 years
I have become a Fan Girl, within reason. LOL.
The quick sale veggies are a bargain, especially the tomatoes and eggplants.
The best thing about Farm Boy is the banana monkey!!!
I was just waiting for someone to say this
I always say hi when I’m passing by
