Yes they are consistently losing to Shoprite on price, that’s really all you need to know. Lately though actually their weekly loss leader sales have been great, and consistently matching or cheaper than Shoprite.
The Stop and Shops in our area are shutting down soon and the one I normally go to has started de-stocking. Sad to see. It’s a shame because they started giving away weekly bonus points freebies which have been super nice and it’s fun collecting points. I imagine this works a lot better in states where they have gas stations but in NJ the points are kind of worthless.
@Rooster the digital coupon is same for all Shoprites. There are some deals where you can paper coupon but a lot of the deals now are digital only.
Understood. I’m not a fan of keeping an app for groceries, my hands are already full just shopping the aisles and after reading thru the physical circular, I make my own list at several stores. My wife cuts the coupons and prints manuf coupons off the net.
Given the competitive pricing in my immediate area, Hwy 35 alone, I’m not complaining.
The nice thing is that Shoprites have a kiosk where you can add your coupons. Stop and Shop doesn’t have this and you’re just SOL if you don’t want to get their app, which I think is a stupid move by them.
Sounds like we are both grocery shopping aficionados! The 35 drag of Shoprite Stop and Shop Aldi Lidl Costco is like one of the best grocery store sections ever. I’m in a different area now and I’m going to miss the disappearance of Stop and Shop.
My local Shop RIte, which has become my “go-to” also sends me “personalized” coupons based on my shopping habits. I thought that was a great idea and although I’m not a big coupon shopper, when you send me coupons on exactly what I use, well I sure use them!
They came in the mail. About a dozen or two of the more frequent items we buy. Now I don’t really check our mail, let alone check coupons, but I remember my wife making a point of it when they came in the mail. I checked it out and thought it was a marketing home run.
Interesting; I’ve never received them in the mail, but I use the app/digital coupons and they often ‘feed’ me digital discounts for items I normally buy.
