Well it may not be too late! They’re planning to do a second portion of their latest tour, No Filters, which we saw last July. Sir Mick is writing new music in QT. If it comes anywhere even reasonably close to me, I’m there already. Heck, I’d fly across the country or go to Canada even. In a perfect world they would play Honolulu - the last planned concert on The Bigger Bang Tour, which was cancelled for some reason. We met some very depressed people in the islands over that one. Dave Matthews opened for them, at least in Seattle, where we saw them that time too. Truly an amazing concert, and Dave came back out and jammed with the RS for awhile.
Thank you @bbqboy - really enjoyed!
The Betty Crocker Cook Book for Boys and Girls was my first cookbook ever, and I still have it. (See, they were ahead of the sexist curve even then!) I learned to cook from a different Betty Crocker book, but lost it in a breakup. I’ve got a newer version paperback BC which we pulled out Saturday for the Beef Stroganoff recipe, which is easy and good. I don’t need a recipe for it now, but H did, and was cooking. For us during QT, it’s mostly about nostalgia, comfort, and pantry meals. With exceptions, of course.
Charlie Daniels ( 1936- 2020 ). I didn’t know he played fiddle on several Marshall Tucker Band songs. They were one of my favorite groups back then.
Walking half a mile to the train tracks to watch the once-a-day train go by at 4.30 in the afternoon.
On a recommendation from a music friend about 15 yrs junior to us, I listened to Bobby Goldsboro’s (remember him?) song, Summer - the First Time. Don’t recall having heard it, but decent and evocative piece, with orchestral and piano, as well as Bobby on guitar. Coming of age song, akin to Night Moves in meaning, but totally different musically.
What?? You didn’t lay on the tracks, playing chicken @Auspicious? Think pals and I put a penny on a track once. Can’t remember the outcome, probably train didn’t come, we got bored and left.
Reading this reminded me of childhood friend of mine we ho supposedly the got hit by an LIRR train that ran near my house in Queens and survived it. I can’t swear its true, but I saw him before after and believed it!
We did the penny thing a few times. I vaguely recalled it worked about half the time. Sometime the penny would be knocked off the rail and we couldn’t find it.
There were three trains a day when we first moved nearby which dropped to two, then one on weekdays. I recall the rails moldered for some years after the demise of the Washington & Old Dominion Railroad until the state took ownership and stitched together a system of “rails to trails” across Virginia. I don’t know how well that’s been maintained and I’m afraid to go back and look.
Trying to finish a special pie at 10:20 pm PST; yes, visited with BFF earlier…had to take a little break, but turned on classic rock, just listened to Warren Zevon, and think I’ll be able to soldier on with the music…pie will be awesome. Will post pic pic on dessert thread. Thank god for old music in these weird times…
Almost cut my hair. It was just before the covid. It’s gettin’ kinda’ long.
I had long hair in my high school/college days of the 70’s. I retired and and it was gettin’ kinda’ long and was going to have it cut until the corona hit.
I’m in Texas and am not going near a hair salon, besides I’m 63 and have all my curly hair that feels good on the back of my neck.
I feel, like letting my freak flag fly.
Am totally in support of that @jcostiones. Love that song too, as well as Neil’s music, always.
BTW, had to do some “joint” errands with H on Friday. One of these was going to the unique boutique on behalf of friend. Hadn’t been since pre Covid. This particular store is set up like a supermarket, with about 8 checkout lanes. Everything is behind the counter, however.
Anyway, with all the plexiglass shielding required, there was room for signage, and I found out my Budtender’s name was Josh, with the requisite tip jar. Nice kid, took care of him, he took care of me. Told him I was sorry he couldnt see me smiling (double masked) but I pulled down the sunglasses and squinted my eyes at him, as he did to me. Covid smiles!
If I posted about this on another thread, can’t remember, and wouldn’t be surprised if Covid is making me cray cray. Not really
Today I had to get the papers, get the papers and I don’t mean Jimmy Two Times on Goodfellas.
Lol! BTW, anxiously awaiting wedding party stories…
“Hey, my hair’s getting good in the back.” Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention
I did in fact post about the errand over on the good news thread. I cop to Covid making me crazy. Always good to have a scape goat!! Should have double checked before posting, but didn’t. Just don’t call me a crazy old bat, K?? @jcostiones.
I have been going through my folks’ apartment to empty it to sell and came across a box of stuff from when I was born. This menu was at the hospital where I was born. At this point, it was mom’s 5th day in the hospital! It was Easter Sunday and the dinner cost $6.
I’ll have the ham please.
