Well, we watched it all. I probably hated the beloved episode 6 the most - which is a shame, given the stellar (guest) cast. Too loud, too hysterical, too much. Like the first 2 episodes, if screaming at and over each other is supposed to convey “drama,” it didn’t do that for me. I just found it annoying.
Unlike you, I’m a fan of the show, but not of this episode. I thought it was just too OTT, and JLC so thoroughly chewed the scenery, there wasn’t much left.
Maybe this is TMI but I am familiar with how dysfunctional family dynamics can be and lots of screaming and breaking of things happen. So while the episode was a bit on the extreme side I thought the episode presented a realistic picture of a dark scenario. There’s a reason why the holidays can be very stressful for some people.
Agree, and especially if there is undiagnosed — or untreated — mental illness and/or addiction in play (which they seemed to be trying to weave in as a family pattern as well). Not OTT, just very dysfunctional and sad.
Yeah, they really seemed to be trying to weave in All The Things, for sure - including the ‘dramatic’ cliffhanger of the shunned GF. What a troubled, misunderstood soul that poor Carm is.
that ad is all over the 1st page of the new york times website. at the top of the page, and a few more times as you scroll down. wonder how much that placement cost calvin klein?
CK has, historically, been happy to splash out for centrally located ads (e.g. prominent print positions, Times Square billboards) for men’s underwear featuring a hot commodity (so to speak) of the moment. And given how little return there is on online ads, that placement may be a relative bargain.
