Tall order - new fridge pricing

That’s pretty scary!

Nothing I can say will make your situation better.

But I just want you to know that you and your loved one are in my thoughts.

Best of luck to you.

So sorry to hear that!! Great, actionable advice on resumes, cover letters, interviewing on askamanager.com. I’m equally as addicted to that site as here. Best wishes that the job hunt is short and with a very happy ending!!

I am so sorry. Layoffs stink.

You are not alone. Been there, ugh. Moral support is yours for the asking.

P.S. I too appreciate the “Ask A Manager” site.

The only reason I ask is… Back in late 2017, I was laid off – long story, so I won’t bore you with the details, but I started looking at my finances and my savings and ran the numbers.
With a little “belt tightening” I was able to make it work and retire early. For me, I didn’t realize how much money I was actually wasting on frivolous items and services. Being a few years removed from deleting those items and services, I don’t miss them at all.
And speaking of “early retirement”… I LOVE IT!! Every day, I don’t have to drag myself into an office and put up with horrible co-workers is a true blessing.

Not quite. Just turned and turning 50.

I understand…

As a side note, Sunshine was a little upset that I cancelled all cable TV and went with free services on ROKU. She was unable to watch her “Real Housewives” shows… I told her we all have to make sacrifices.

I’ve never watched any of the RH shows, but it looks like you can buy some of them to watch on YouTube and Amazon Prime Video! We have to keep Sunshine happy! :grinning:

Just recently, FREEVEE (free channel) has started a “Real Housewives” channel. I showed Sunshine how to access it on her Roku, so if she wants to catch up on the ladies, she can.
Lately she has been hooked on “Hallmark” movies on Pluto TV.

I’m sorry about your layoff. It is upsetting, especially when you’ve been there for so long. I have to say that the one time it happened to me, it led to much better things. I hope the same for you. :+1:

Yay - she sounds very resourceful!

Oh darn it! Take a few deep breaths and…reset. Remember, it isn’t you that made this happen. Positive thoughts being sent your way🙏

Yes, early retirement, in my case, was a blessing and sooooo underated! I’m alive and can enjoy so much else in the world. I loved my job but it got political when it shouldn’t have.

That sucks and I hate it for you. Been there too many times.

Sending you all the good vibes for a quick and gentle landing in a better place for you.

In case anyone stumbles on this thread in the next day or two and is looking for a new fridge.

Just saw this update. I’m sorry, @Sasha. You are in good company, though as lots of transition and last offs this year - present company included. It ended up being a great thing for me, with what was going on personally and I found a new gig fairly quickly.

The good news is the job market is still tight in many locations. If you’re ready to start your search, you should see a lot of opportunity. It’ll be easier now with some distance before the holidays. Good luck, and I work in HR, and spent many years as a recruiter in my early days. If I can be of any help, PM me.

Don’t put $700.00-$800 into a 14 y/o fridge. Check out Costco online. I bought a dishwasher from them recently and the price included installation/removal and an extended warranty.

I don’t think any one has mentioned buying used appliances yet, but I do it. Works out well and is a lot cheaper. Depending on where you live you might have something local, but also there’s plenty online. Some of the ‘used’ appliances are actually completely new as well, but not the latest model.
