Email rec’d. Like Delicious Orders, Battleview is offering curbside Pickup for groceries they sell and Easter orders. Call ahead, pay cc by phone, closed Tuesday. Unlike DO, Battleview is customizing orders.
the Shoprite website now has a "waiting room’ you sit in until its your turn to enter the actual site. At present its more than an hour wait time for me.
I tried ShopRite for pickup, tried looking for available pick up time and it timed out. Tried again the next morning at 6 am, got to the screen where it showed pick up times and they were booked through easter
just placed order for Foodtown Port Monmouth for next week - only store and location that had anything available at all less than 15+ days out…most spots not even taking orders.
Thanks to Greg for mentioning that location in another post- never knew it was even there…
Walmart Superstore Old Bridge 6:45 am with twice as many people lined up behind me:
I had read about their new safety procedures and I was glad that people were lining up in their outlined 6 ft spaces. Once inside though it was more chaotic. Although we had to go straight down the food aisles, there were no one-way arrows and people were all over the place going this way and that.
They were out of all paper products except a few house brand paper towels and no chlorox, lysol, or disinfecting cleaners. No chicken or ground beef in the meat deptartment and lots of emptiness on the freezer shelves. I got the last two jars of Rao’s marinara sauce and the last box of club mini crackers. They had all kinds of milk but no half & half.
I’m not sure if I was there before they restocked or this is the new normal there.
Tried shoprite at 1am last night. Was able to get on site and put together list. However not 1 store within 30 min had availability to pick up.
Went to Shoprite (Aberdeen) this morning about 7:30. No line to get in, wipes for carts/hands by the door, not crowded. Plenty of fresh seafood (I was able to get both salmon and cod). A few gaps in produce, but I got spring greens, bananas, apples, clementines, zucchini, tomatillos, asparagus, mushrooms, plantains, green peppers, and grapes, so there’s a wide assortment of stuff. Passover section still stocked (though no Yehuda matzoh; I had to settle for Aviv). Plenty of pasta (except mac&cheese or ramen) (for after Passover!). No non-gourmet canned mushrooms, no white vinegar, not a lot of eggs. Milk section spotty (no 1% gallons, but plenty of 2% gallons, no 1/2 gallon chocolate milk, but plenty of quarts). Plenty of cheese and yogurt. Canned fruit almost all gone except for pineapple.
And no toilet paper, paper towels, facial tissues, or dishwasher detergent. (There may have been a couple of boxes of expensive eco-friendly stuff, but no jugs of liquid or boxes of powder.) They had some “washing-up” liquid (as the Brits call it).
Shop Rite Neptune update:
First of all, for those of you waiting on the report, my order was in fact ready this morning during the time slot I’ve had for 9 days. Only issue is that I got an email with the final $$ amt and it was half of what I had in my cart, so I knew I’d have to venture in to a store. The pickup area is on the south end of the store (only found it because I decided to drive there to see) and that whole process was (honestly) wonderful. Then I brought everything home, checked it against my list, and went back out. To the Shop Rite in Neptune.
I truly debated about SR vs. Wegmans but ultimately decided that since SR is always better stocked, I’d rather try there–and it was the right move. I grabbed my mask, gloves, and wipes, and off I went ~11:45. The parking lot was crowded but not packed, and the store had far fewer people in it than I expected–and I’d say 80% of them were wearing masks of one type or another, which was good to see. Here’s the kicker (which I predicted)…EVERY. ITEM. that was missing from my order was in stock–with the exception of hand sanitizer, which I was shocked to see on their website in the first place.
Bottom line for me is that it’s not worth it to have them shop for me when I’m healthy/able and can go stock up for 2 weeks at a clip. Now I’m wondering how we get them to only make it available for those whose systems are compromised…
That!! Well said @CurlzNJ I’ve been shopping for myself as well as some elderly folks and donations to a few local food banks. Was I scared? To be honest, kind of. But I was out again this morning before 7 am. Let those in need get the deliveries.
addendum: Now I know I am online too much. Usually I am all about the jokes. Once I start getting serious it is a clear sign I need to sign off.
Yup…I’ve even been trying to help my (equally young and healthy) friends so we’re not out too often by encouraging them to let me pick up stuff for them when I’m going and asking for the same when I go out. This time, it had been 11 days since I’d been in a store, and that’s the new idea–stock up (don’t hoard) so you don’t have to go as often!
I just saw an article that 8 shoprites had employees test positive.
As of this morning, it was more like two dozen (locations), mostly in NNJ. I think the closest to here was Holmdel–but Neptune and Shrewsbury were NOT on the list.
I’ve been out too much but only to CVS and food stores. The other day I had two carts worth of food and at the checkout the lady behind me was giving me grief for hoarding. I turned up the volume in my headphones rather than enlighten the self-righteous woman about how only the one bottle of coffee creamer and two packages of chicken were for me.
I finally got home after dropping off lots of tied up plastic bag packages curbside along the way and wearily cleaned up my food. My wife was upstairs holding one of our two packs of six rolls of toilet paper. “How mad would you be if we donated this to HabCore? Some of the free-housing residents they sponsor don’t have any.” I hadn’t seen any toilet paper in any of the stores I’d been in for more than a week, so I drew the line there and made her put it back.
I just looked the list, as I have to go shopping either tomorrow or Wednesday. 25 stores as of 10:43 this morning, including Wall. I may have to take a ride to Neptune. This will also give me the opportunity to look for coconut covered marshmallows for passover.
Hmm…wish I could tell you I saw some today, but I wouldn’t be looking for them (not much of a coconut fan). There were a lot of macaroons left, and while ymmv, the cashier did say it’s been nuts there in the mornings, so you may want to go around Noon or early afternoon (I was there 11:30 or so).
FYI - my MIL just told me that Livoti’s is charging $15 for curbside pickup (I think someone above said $10?) I wouldn’t bat an eye at this for delivery but that feels a little steep for curbside, no?
Also @CurlzNJ I saw the produce truck you recommended riding through my neighborhood earlier https://www.facebook.com/AJProduceCo/ and will try placing an order with them and Local 130 this week.
Can’t take credit for the AJ Produce info, @gracieggg! My friend and I did an order at Cuttler in Eatontown–but that was for pickup. I’ve read about AJ but didn’t realize they deliver–very good intel! TY!
Coconut marshmallow are one of those things that I ONLY buy at passover, that and a Hebrew National Salami. I don’t like either but you know how it is - Tradition (said with my best Russian/Yiddish accent).
I placed an order with A and J this morning. Delivery for my town (Manasquan) was Friday, the next pickup was Wednesday so I’m doing their curbside pickup. I went with them as they were my produce source when I owned the sandwich shop back in the day. They always had good produce and were good to work with so felt I owed it to them.
OOOOH I love HN salami! Can’t tell you the last time I had it, but there was always a full log of it in my house growing up. Yes, we sliced it ourselves! Life was hard back then.
