Yes, we still need to grab ours from yesterday but need to find some time to run out. I’m curious to see if they threw in the out of stock items or not. TBD.
Not sure if this counts as supermarket status… but my friend sent me this. I might check it out.
Due to the closure of many restaurants in the tri-state area our fisherman are suffering. The supply now outmeets the demand. The wholesale prices are at an all time low. However, our operating costs remain the same. 90 percent of the seafood consumed in the US is through restaurants, not home cooking. With these restaurants being closed the demand for their catch has been reduced to only markets & take out restaurants that serve Fresh Local Seafood. In order for us to keep these guys fishing an able to provide for us when this is over, we need to support them now. Shore Fresh seafood is teaming up with the Fisherman’s dock cooperative. We will be having an outdoor wholesale market. Friday Saturday and Sunday, April 3-5 10am-4pm, On the patio of our Point Beach location.
Didn’t make it to lidl… we are pretty well stocked for now. those cuke prices are insane…
just saw a note on Facebook, something to be aware of over next cpl of days
We did a contact free pickup order from Livoti’s today and was impressed. Admittedly a small order, packages of chicken and some produce. We phoned the order in yesterday afternoon, after the cutoff for same day fulfillment. We furnished our credit card number when placing the order. A store representative called this morning to confirm the order, provide total and convey pickup instructions. Our card was charged after co firming. This afternoon we went to the store (Aberdeen), called when we arrived and a store employee brought the bags out and placed them in our trunk. There was one other car awaiting pickup. Very efficient process.
Update…effective April 1 Livoti’s has instituted a $10 fee on curb side pickup orders.
ouch.
Ordered from PeaPod over a week ago. This morning after they started on their way they notified me of numerous out of stock items on my order. All meats, chicken and Seafood except one…no peanut butter, no dark ground coffee? no liquid dish detergent…. just to name a few. Really? I guess it will be back to my local grocery stores.
I guess I’m not the only one who thinks that is high. I mean, if you’re getting $150 worth of stuff, it’s not too bad, but it makes small orders untenable. Maybe that is the idea?Evelyn
According to a post on my local NextDoor board:
As of today (per friend) Wegmans in Ocean now limiting 100 people into the store at a time. Additional precaution since many not heeding social distancing guidance and provides additional safety for customers and employees. Was told well organized but took a long time to get in. Assume there are peak times—she went at 10 am today.
I heard the same thing about Wegman’s Manalapan.
Costco today was pretty good crowd wise for late afternoon- spacing was adequate. No paper goods except small batch of Kleenex tissues. Water was in stock, as was large hand soaps. Baby wipes as well. No Tylenol at all, kids, adults, store brand, regular…
I went to Wegman’s Manalapan yesterday around 5pm. I was in line for about 10-15 minutes. They were not letting people in until a certain number of people were checked out. So basically letting people in in bulk rather than staggering entry. I didn’t think it was the best idea as everyone went in together as a large group.
The two worst points of congestion were getting carts, and then checking out. I got through the store reasonably quickly and then had to wait for some time with everyone else in line to check out. Several nights prior they were just staggering people going in. I thought I got through the store much quicker that way. People seemed more dispersed and I checked out quickly. I had planned on getting maybe 10 needed items but, not wanting to go through that again, I got a large cart and bought everything I think I might need for another two weeks. They basically had everything except clorox wipes, low on half&half/cream, pasta, general cleaning supplies.
Reports from the frontline indicate Acme (ewwww) in Lincroft is the best stocked. (Lidl Eatontown was pretty bare) Acme also has all paper products including Lysol wipes! Desperate times call for desperate measures so Acme it is!!
Got to Wegmans’s Manalapan 8:30 am , had to wait 45 minutes in a light rain to get inside.
Not made aware of them limiting amount of people inside.
They made you sanitize hands on entering store, then you are directed to a sanitized cart.
Good inventory of fruit, vegetables and most everything except zero paper goods ( what’s up with that).
To checkout you line up in an aisle correctly spaced behind register.
Not allowing your bagsfrom home, lots of those annoying plastic bags , someone wipes down belt after each customer.
I am a single guy and my groceries are usually not a big deal.
I survived Vietnam, divorce, 911, & Cancer.
This is more stressful than any of those.
I have turned into a cranky old man who is looking for options and a few rolls of paper towels
I made my mind up awhile ago if the going gets tough there always seems to be plenty of cabbage. I’m pretty sure that was the worlds first organic toilet paper anyway!
Dammit!! I bought cauliflower.
A friend decided to give Cuttler Produce in Eatontown a try, so I jumped on the order with him. He called it in yesterday and paid by credit card, was given a time slot for pickup today, and said when he arrived there was one car in front of him. When it was his turn, he gave his name, and the guy (with gloves on) put the box in his trunk and off he went.
I didn’t order much because I’m waiting to see if my big order via Shop Rite From Home is filled when I go to pick it up Monday morning, but here’s what I got:
1 bunch of asparagus (from Mexico) $3
1 TINYTINYRIDICULOUSLYSMALL head of cauliflower $3
1 stunning bunch of flat parsley $1
1 quart of half and half $3
He purchased Granny Smith apples (huge, 50 cents each), a few avocados ($2 ea), a large loaf of sliced rye bread ($4, iirc), a small clamshell of cherry tomatoes, and a package of 3 heads of romaine hearts, which I think were $4.
All in all the product is exactly what you’d see in grocery stores and I thought the prices were comparable. MY only disappointment was the cauliflower, as I got 2 enormous heads of it for $2.99 ea the last time I went to Wegmans.
Great option if you want to avoid the produce dept of the grocery store and for little/no contact.
I got stressed too. I waited until 5 because I figured it would be less crowded. Could have gotten there 20 minutes earlier as it seemed lots of people got on line right before and after me. The line was doubled 10 minutes after I got there. I risked empty shelves but everything was pretty well stocked and I got most everything on my list. Except damn clorox wipes.
I didn’t like waiting outside in the rain with lots of people walking right by me for various reasons, and I didn’t like waiting to check out with lots of people walking right by me for various reasons. I got home, unpacked, and took a shower.
Overall I think the queuing exposed me to more people than the actual active shopping.
Agree 100% and I feel that they are definitely pricing certain items like ice cream & other items higher.
However it could be me being out of touch.
