I also make my own, usually using dried beans. I like being able to control the tahini to garlic to lemon ratios.
Ha ha yes up until about 2 months ago it was a battle to open up that jar.
Lately it’s getting easier & I sure as hell ain’t getting younger or stronger. Someone must have noticed.
Tuscany has a really good Pistachio gelato btw
Opening jars-- is a 3 step process for us. First try brute strength, 2nd try, slam jar upside down on counter & use strength again, 3rd try take a flat blade screwdriver, insert tip under lid & twist slightly-- always successful IF there’s space for the blade tip.
Yeah tried the Talento for the first time a few months ago and it was the pits getting it open.
I actually contacted them to complain. I think they may have sent me a coupon for 50 cents off or something.
I’m glad to hear that 1) it’s not just me, and 2) it’s gotten better.
(The flat blade screwdriver someone else mentioned works fine with metal lids, which have some flexibility, but not on the hard plastic of Talenti.)
I bought these ( no pictures) rubber mesh squares in Bed Bath & Beyond put one on top of the jar & the other on the bottom. Works great with my gnarled arthritic hands.
Even on Talenti jar.
Pssst, you don’t need a screwdriver just any tea or soup spoon tip will do. Just be careful if your flatware isn’t strong you can bend it, but it works just fine to pop the seal.
I can testify to this: at my food service job, I’m the second oldest employee (30). Yeah, we have a young staff. One in their mid-20’s and the rest are 18-21. ALL of them heavy heavy pot smokers but they barely drink at all.
While I talk about looking forward to going home and making a martini, they look forward to smoking. For better or for worse, that, I believe, is the future.
I was telling @NotJrvedivici this earlier, but I weighed myself today and I am at my lowest weight since high school (so a decade+). Down 23 pounds in a year. If I stopped drinking I could probably lose another 20 pounds or more instantly. But I, as many others, need something to unwind/take the edge off. I don’t like how THC makes me feel, in any form whether it be real weed, a vape, or edible. It’s been about a year since I used. I get very paranoid and anxious, and so I just can’t do it. As opposed to a few drinks where I get relaxed and philosophical. Go figure.
I resemble that remark!
From my understanding there are different strains some of which have different effects on people so you might look to try one known to be mellow? Much like I’m a vodka or tequila guy but bourbon is gonna be a bad night.
I look fwd to the HO board added for cannabis now too. Can our mod pull double duty?
Tried those gripping squares–didn’t work for me.
The biggest problem was that both the lid and the container were hard plastic, so they had no flexibility and any real effort to force things would just break them.
You are completely correct and now that I’m taking my “endeavor” a bit more seriously I want to start to truly explore that. My initial introduction has been “Give me what works the fastest” - without paying much attention to the specifics of strains etc.
I do know I’ve taken a few “night time” CBD / THC combinations that does help me sleep like a baby!
I can understand your frustration, maybe if you set the container aside for a few minutes the frost around the cap will let it become easier to open.
That’s the advice of a guy who avoids hassles & inconvenience at all costs.
Talenti Official Statement:
Our lid-capping machine experienced an issue that caused some lids to be particularly tight and we fixed the machine as soon as we found out about it. While there are still some tight lids out there, there will be fewer as new pints roll out. We apologize to our customers for this inconvenience and encourage them to contact our customer service team at talentigelato.com or 800-298-4020 if they have any concerns.
Oh, I am highly educated on the strains thanks to my coworkers. Like seriously, there could be a college level class on it. I’ve tried a variety over the years. Some were great and relaxed me/put me to sleep, while others gave me a boost of energy that I was certainly not looking for given the time of day it was. One bad experience was really enough. It sucks but I’ll keep it the way it is for the time being.
I could teach that class @gcaggiano
Just sayin
Thanks that’s great news
I wouldn’t mind it if the store substituted their own brand, but ShopRite totally discontinued frozen cranberries, and (not surprisingly) doesn’t have any fresh until the fall (at least I hope they have them then–Costco hasn’t had any for two years).
Does anyone know of a store in HAMMO (Hazlet, Aberdeen, Middletown, Marlboro, or Old Bridge–hey, if we have SOHO, NOHO, and DUMBO, why not HAMMO?) that has either frozen or fresh cranberries? I have a standard cranberry re!ish I bring to dinners, etc., that is currently on hold.
I know nothing about cranberries but love Hammo reference
Just checked net cost market in manalapan and website for online shopping shows frozen cranberries in stock. Might be worth a call to confirm though
