Supermarket Status [Monmouth County, NJ]

@eleeper It’s probably difficult to find fresh cranberries this time of year. You might call Delicious Orchards (not in HAMMO) to see if they have any.

Re: frozen. Whole Foods in Marlboro has Cape Cod Select fresh frozen cranberries, no additives or preservatives. 16 oz. @ $4.39. In stock.

Have ranted about B&B and Dearborn replacing many items at Shoprite. Chicken, seltzer and baked goods are a few.
Today I stumbled on a great deal. If you like Starbucks, bags are $4.99 each with card. Limit 4 and 1 time purchase. French roast whole bean is now stocked.

For me, HAMMO covers where I normally am. Freehold is only when I’m getting the car serviced or inspected, which is to say maybe once a year.

I have a “sickness” when it comes to my dogs. Bernie Buttons a 3.5 year old Rough Collie & Walter a 1.2 year old Havanese. Collies are notoriously picky eaters but the Havanese is just spoiled.
They must get some rotisserie chicken mixed in with their twice daily meal.
Prior to the pandemic Wegman’s at about $6 bucks lasted a week . As previously discussed those chickens look more like pigeons so I have been using Costco’s behemoth $5buck chicken which would be good for 7-9 days. Today the line at Costco was just ridiculous I believe the gas line was shorter than both the self service & full service lines, so this old guy boogeys over to Marlboro Shoprite & lo & behold they have the Wegman’s size pigeon chicken for $7 & a Costco size one for $12.95 ugh. O well hope my boys appreciate the difference. For anyone interested in seeing my boys check out their facebook page. [(https://@berniebuttons&Walter) as I can’t seem to post any pictures here yet.
This chicken thing is really working my last nerve as well as lines & shortages.

Does Costco have the phone app so you can scan and go?

Not to my knowledge my gf swears by it
Even if Costco did the self service line was backed up to the middle of the store

The new Costco coupon book kicked in Wednesday. It’s a mistake to go the first few days of a new set of sale items.

Who knew I was just getting a chicken for my boys, won’t make that mistake again

If they have an app that you can scan as you shop you do not need to wait in line to pay, you just show your phone to the person as you leave just like a receipt you get at the register

Costco? Really so no scanning at checkout? That’s a game changer

If the app has scan and go then yes, you pick up an item, scan the bar code and then pay on your phone. Sam’s s has it, BJ’s does as well on their app it’s called express pay

It looks like it does
I will take it out for a test run in about a week. $12 chicken & $ 6 dollars for gas just not in my budget

Upon further review the app is not similar to Wegmans’s Scan & pay options, unless I am missing something.

I feel your pain about the Costco lines. You could always order it to be delivered. I just checked, the chicken is $5.84. Plus whatever else you want, and no waiting!

Also, you can buy multiple chickens if you have the freezer space, calculating in the tipping option for the shopper.

Thanks but frozen chicken is a non starter for my boys
They just want fresh with that gravy.
Being a very small household there’s no real reason to be in Costco.
Back to Shoprite I guess because I love my boys

FWIW, Costco is being sued for animal cruelty over how their chickens are raised.
