Thanks! Yes, I’ll need to channel my inner @NotJrvedivici for this meal!
Correct, I have been and everything has been great as always. (earn some brownie points when you get there ask Stew how his gout is doing, he was suffering through an attack when I was there a week ago.)
lol Good luck let us know what you get and how you do.
I’ll go tomorrow! Thanks again!
Even Stew’s chicken tastes better than from anywhere else. I don’t think I’ve ever truly craved roasted chicken before but we have them spatchcock the bird then we roast it on a cookie sheet on top of a bed of herbs, lemon and garlic at 400 degrees. It’s so freakin good and the taste of the chicken meat is just awesome.
Shhh… I think I’ve found the new secret timing for grocery shopping-after 7 PM. I’ve now had experiences at ShopRite, Costco, and Wegmans
—maybe a couple of dozen people in the store at each, and with the exception of cleaning supplies, everything was well stocked at each.
Weekday? I find that the same at BJs.
There are some things we need, ok not need but want, that are at Wegmans but I have not stepped foot in there in a few months
In general, yes I’ve been shopping on Tuesdays or Wednesdays, but last night I popped into Wegmans around 8:30 and it was blissfully empty! I hadn’t been in there since March, simply because I had been sharing shopping duties with a friend and I was going to ShopRite every other week while he hit Wegmans. I’m with you-there are a few things that they sell that I can’t get anywhere else, including the hermetically/sealed meats, which often have a longer shelf life.
This has become my strategy too, when I’m forced to go inside a store. And not that summer is here, I see that my local Acme in Manasquan in sopen unitl midnight! So late night shopping got even better!
Yes–it looks like most of the stores are back to their regular hours. I was doing ShopRite from Home (order online, they shop, I pick up) and the slots are definitely available again (usually next day), but every time I did it there would be 1-2 things that I forgot or they’d grab the wrong size of something, so I decided to try masking up and going again. It certainly feels better going in now than it did a month ago, especially in terms of the number of other customers.
Is that how those things work? You spin the reels and if you win you get food? Sounds like fun!!!
I miss gambling …
I too am finding it easier to get time slots for the ShopRite from Home. I also found that there is an option to add items that you forgot when you placed the order, if it’s about 24 hours before your pickup date. This has saved me trips inside the store.
It’s a little confusing on how to do it, but it’s definitely another option to stay away from inside!
You want to gamble? Eat at any McLoones restaurant your taking a gamble there!
When you gamble you have a chance of winning. Not so likely at McLoones establishments.
Stores are also pretty empty if you go early (before 8am).
I see Wegmans is still not opening until 7, I miss the days when they opened at 6
It’s pretty much stocked at that hour though. preCovid if I went early the produce department was always a mess.
I was at Wegman’s Manalapan at 7 am today and it was much less crowded than the last time I was there. Looks like things are calming a little.
The only bare shelves were for Chlorox products, lysol, and paper plates. Prices are still high and specials are few and far between.
Welcome to the “new normal”.
I recently came across a show on CNBC about the breakdown of supply chain that was very interesting; looks like you can read details and at least watch some clips here:
