I just realized I forgot sliced turkey completely. GAH! Good luck on your trip. I didn’t find it at all fun but people did seem to mostly be in decent enough spirits.
Got 2 dozen eggs, sliced turkey and ham, cole slaw, and milk along with 7 bagels this morning at Bagel Talk in Marlboro. I ordered online and they had it waiting when I arrived at 7:30. Nice break from the supermarket.
@seal’s post reminds me that I keep meaning to remind those of you near AP that Frank’s Deli sells meats by the pound, along with bread/rolls + regular menu items. I haven’t gone yet, but have a few friends who have gotten turkey/cheese there. CASH ONLY (as always).
We’ve gotten deli meat from Franks the last two weekends and a couple of tomatoes.
Pastrami, corned beef, ham, salami, Swiss and American.
They are still making pastries as well
yeah- we’ve been trying to stick to pre-packaged slice deli meat- like hillshire farms…impossible to find…at all…
Just left bjs, good amount of organic lactose free milk, lots of chicken breasts, and meats.
The dry food shelves are starting to empty. We had placed a pick up order yesterday and when I went to pick up just now the store was pretty empty so shopped for perishables as well
Try Wegman’s.
Did okay at Acme in Lincroft yesterday, about 4 p.m. Not crowded at all. Had to wipe my own cart. Plenty of produce and meats. The presliced deli was limited but placed in various areas so I was able to get ham and swiss. Milks and milk variations were pretty well stocked. Also eggs and yogurt. Plenty of bread. Paper aisle was empty of course. The aisles were set up to be one-way only but many patrons didn’t notice. Nearly all patrons and staff had gloves and masks and observed social distancing. The red stickers on the floors helped with that. I missed half my list because I’m not familiar with the store and it was hard to avoid people while scanning both sides of aisles.
I’m just back from my first trip to ShopRite in 15 days…store was NOT in great shape in terms of stock, and that surprised me, but I managed to sub items that were missing. Still, it was surprising to see the chicken case pretty well-decimated (with the exception of family packs of breasts + a lot of breaded nuggets). Dairy was the same way. WOW, were there a ton of empty shelves. The problem when this happens (and I’m just as guilty but caught myself) is that people scramble to buy more of what IS there, thinking this is how it’s going to be.
Wasn’t crazy busy (I intentionally went as it started to drizzle) and while I saw a few geniuses with their masked pulled down (in one case, to talk on her phone), everyone at least had their faces covered. Social distancing? Not so great. Next time I have to go I think I’ll try Wegmans, as I know they at least have one-way arrows on the aisles.
which SR was it by chance?
also- if you can make it to TJ’s in Shrewsbury- they have a really great system down. Just went yesterday. Limiting people in, arrows, masks.gloves, distancing. Stock was pretty good as it was Mon. Might be worth a shot- I know it’s a bit of a trek for you- but I’m not going to SR in Shrewsbury again for a while after my last experience there.
Didn’t notice the arrows at Manalapan Wegman’s but they are organized and have had good stock. They let in 30 people every 15 minutes. I used the pricing app so checkout is quick and there’s a $5 digital coupon for it. (meanwhile I am throwing random things in my cart just in case which offsets the $5 pretty quickly)
Hello, me from yesterday!
That’s me every time I shop pandemic or not. A list is only so I don’t forgot something i really need and doesn’t stop me from buying 87 other things.
Thanks…I was at the SR in Neptune on Rt 66; that’s my go-to.
I do have a short TJ’s list going and (maybe because I grew up in NNJ) I don’t think of that as a trek at all! I would have hit TJ’s and that SR, but I don’t know that store layout well as I’ve only been a few times, so I didn’t want to spend extra time in there. May wait on TJ’s until next week, but I’ve been hearing great things about their system and the Wegmans in Ocean.
Saaaaaaaaaame!
