Wow… Which ShopRite location was this? Thanks for posting.
Shrewsbury.
maybe they have their crap together on non-holidays, but man- what a disaster- I was cringing the whole time I was there. I’m sticking to Foodtown for any drop in emergencies; which is what I tried to do yesterday.
Has anyone been to Lincroft Acme lately? Might make that my backup going fwd.
Acme in Lincroft was decent last week. Not too many shoppers in store and most items in stock.
Wasn’t sure whether to put this up here or in the Covid specials thread, but …
Taste of Italy is open for pickup or even in-store ordering and it looks like they have GF options too:
Do you or anyone else have any thought on Jimmi Pecci, esp for meat? Is one location better? Saw this and wondering if they are a suitable alternative to Livotis? Trying to stick to smaller spots I guess from now on.
I’ve never been to either location of Taste of Italy. A friend told me they were decent but not as good as Aleo in Lincroft or Tuscany in Marlboro. Perhaps @NotJrvedivici has been?
Thanks for sharing this; I assume it was Shrewsbury? I REALLY hope you’ll submit the same ‘report’ to SR directly. Last I checked, we have a few of the non-affected stores in our area; you’d think they’d be working much harder to keep things orderly/safe, but I guess not.
This is strictly my opinion, but based on posts here and reports from friends, I suspect a few things happened this past week:
1-It was Passover and Easter and people wanted to cook something special–food that wasn’t already in the house. My friends described Stop&Shop as “post-apocalyptic” but that definitely wasn’t my thought when I went to SR in Neptune a week ago today–maybe because it was early in the week.
2-People think they’re safer if they have masks on a a LOT more folks are out shopping.
Again, non-scientific, but those are my guesses. I’m certainly shopping at smaller stores/purveyors now…
Having lived in the area for 25+ years Aleo’s & Pat’s have been my favorite “go-to” delis. Aleo for their fresh mozzarella hands down! Taste of Italy isn’t bad by any means but it didn’t win me over the 5 mile drive past it to get to Aleo’s. YMMV certainly give them a try for yourself!
Pete Genovese wrote a cute article regarding his first experience shopping with a mask on at the supermarket.
We went to Ferrucci’s in Little Silver on Easter. Everyone there, customers and employees (all owners/family), wore gloves and masks and practiced social distancing. Their shelves were full of all of their usual stock and prepared food case was full. We picked up sausage, a Bell & Evans chicken, farro pasta (plenty of all shapes, sizes, and types), some nibbling cheese, frozen chicken bolognese sauce, and gourmet skinny little pretzel sticks.
I went to Wegman’s day before Easter. They are pretty organized by now. Carts sanitized, everyone has to Purell upon entry. Good selection of items. (No clorox wipes though.) They have an app where you can scan as you go through the store and then pay at self checkout. I used it and I liked it: items all scanned quickly and easy checkout. ( Waited on line to get into the store approx 1/2 hour).
got through to Cutler for an order for next week (1 week turn around currently- which is fine - figured as much and put in order for next week). First time called line was busy, picked up on 2nd call.
Livotis Middletown- tried three times, nobody picked up phone at all for number listed on website. Will try again tmw.
just saw this on NJ.com. For our northern friends at the moment- but also in Princeton area and apparently looking to come to Monmouth. Just another resource for anyone looking for food.
Drive through produce pick up or delivery offered as well. 59.99 for a decent spread of stuff.
Thanks for posting this! Shared it with a few friends in/near those towns.
still can’t get Livotis Middletown to pick up the phone…
They are seriously struggling. I’m not dealing with them again. My MIL ordered a ham last week. They told her they were totally sold out when she came to get it. Middletown location.
geez. that’s terrible, so I guess the Middletown location is f’d up now same as Aberdeen…
so I just got through to them- new deal is I gave my name and number- they are supposed to call back tmw morning I will give order over phone and it will be ready before 6PM tmw.
My main worry is that much like you @gracieggg, If I don’t get there as soon as its ready my perishable items (lots of meat and dairy) will spoil…as I’m not sure they are putting the stuff on ice or just leaving it out on a counter somewhere.
I received an order from A&J produce today and it is impressive. Really nice looking stuff. I’m really happy. It took a week for it to arrive but nothing was missing and communication was easy.
I just checked their FB page- looks really nice. If Cutler gets too busy on my next order I’m gonna try these guys. Did they say if curbside was quicker turn around than delivery by chance?
I know last week, when I called on Monday, delivery to my neighborhood would be Friday but I could pick it up Wednesday. That may have changed as when I went they told me orders placed then wouldn’t be ready until next week. They did not specify pickup or delivery.
