I have a standard issue Zojirushi (Amazon special so it wasn’t expensive) that works the same way.
I get mine from the Korean store- rice cooker sings twinkle star when it is ready, my pressure cooker makes a choo-choo noise before it releases. Zojirushi and Couckoo. Totally worth it, but I have four people to feed regularly. Do cross check price.
Beef stew cooked in the crock pot yesterday while cookies baked in the oven. After 4 hours on high setting, It was OK for lunch. After 2 more hours on high and an overnight rest in the fridge, it was terrific reheated for today’s lunch.
Truckadero Beef Stew - a recipe from the 1980’s featuring artichoke hearts and mushrooms, with a biscuit topping. I make my version with half the beef (1 pound), and twice the broth (20 oz total) and dried dill (1 tsp). The old fashioned small refrigerator biscuits aren’t available where I shop, just Grands size. I cut 4 of those into quarters to scatter on top of the stew for the final bake, and bake the other 4 beside it. With a BIG note-to-self that the biscuits baked separately need only half the time of those topping the stew - watch closely.
Four bean stew (AKA Cowboy beans). Recipe from my SIL had 3 beans, but the 4th (Chile sauce beans) got added many years ago after a potluck featured this amped up version. Serve with corn muffins or biscuits.
1 large can pork & beans
1 can butter beans
1 can kidney beans
1 can chili beans with sauce
1/2 lb hamburger
1/4 lb bacon (or 1/3 jar cooked bacon bits)
1/4 cup onion
1 tsp. liquid smoke flavoring (optional, but I always use)
BBQ sauce – version 1
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup ketchup
1 tsp prepared mustard or 2 tsp dry mustard
2 Tablespoon vinegar
BBQ sauce version 2
1 Tablespoon molasses
1/2 cup prepared BBQ sauce
2 tsp dry mustard
Brown hamburger, onion & bacon. Drain excess grease. Add all ingredients, including ONE version of the sauce (both are good, I don’t always have the prepared bottled BBQ sauce on hand), & simmer until blended (30 minutes or keep warm in slow cooker or bake )
Love this type of “baked beans.” I like to eat them with the mashed potato casserole that has sour cream and cream cheese in it.
Oooh - good suggestion. And we have PLENTY of leftovers to try that.
